Premium Members Hervé Colosio Posted February 26, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 26, 2006 hi , I?ve been to the transvideo manufacturer last week to see the products they made . i must say that they have made many interesting things for us . like a cinemonitor 3 superbright 1400 nits that include a transmitter titan inside . i've also see with my eyes that they made tests on the monitor for working at +80° to -50° (avionic tests) and when the monitor is inside the temperature machine test my picture still on the monitor with the titan transmitter/receiver . very funny . i've also find a very good bracket to fit a lcd on the master series without vibes like on other i have test . :) it was very interesting . Premium Members David George Ellis Posted March 31, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 31, 2006 Hey Y'all, It was brought to my attention that I should mention this just in case no one got the memo. I use the Transvideo III A SuperBright as my primary and I can honestly say I rarely have any viewability issues regarding sunglare, viewing angles and the like. While I was in the Valley, I stopped by the old shop and spoke with the lovely woman who's name I can't remember at the moment. Anyway, we were discussing the market for smaller plasma screens and how they will match up to the current LCDs. I mentioned this b/c sometimes, I had viewing issues while operating and wanted to know if there were options for the future. This lovely lady showed me on the floor demo what to do in order to correct that. She took that same monitor and flipped it and performed an in-monitor vertical flip and gave me a 70 degree angle of incident viewability. Worlds crumbled and then collided. Big eye-opener. So, for any of you who have the III A, try mounting the monitor upside down and you should see an improvement in your image. Don't know if this was in the manual b/c I don't read too good. hope this helps!!! David
Premium Members Hervé Colosio Posted March 31, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 31, 2006 this is true , the surface seems to be like a polarized filter , and there is one side for best stedicam operation . if you look on the front of the monitor there is the same picture on both side of monitor , but if you want a near 110° of view it's only on one side . i think it's not in the manual. Premium Members Thomas English Posted April 1, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 1, 2006 Worlds colliding David... well done... did not think of that. I had realised that most Lcd monitors (panasonic 7in) are designed to be viewed from underneath to straight on. i.e. if it is flat on the table and you are looking at it sitting at your desk to it is upright like a computer monitor. The transvideo monitors seem to have visability from the top to flat on which is strange. Flip it upside down! wicked! What are you mounting your monitors with? the transvideo steadicam mount is completely crap.

Premium Members Hervé Colosio Posted April 2, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 2, 2006 i own a master series , and the bracket for monitor on this sled is exotic than the others ! i have try the teletest mount , you can put the cine IIIA on it with small adaptors but not the rainbow II SB because there is not the ears attach on this monitor . i have put the transvideo bracket on the master for testing , you have more rigidity than the teletest but i still have some little problems i'm going to work on to have a good bracket . i haven?t try the chroziel monitor bracket , maybe it can work with the master series . the monitor is exellent i just need a better way to fix it ! Premium Members JamieSilverstein Posted April 3, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 3, 2006 You might want to get in touch with Markus at Baer Bel. He has crafted a pretty cool Masters bracket in the past.
Premium Members David George Ellis Posted April 3, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 3, 2006 What are you mounting your monitors with? Hey Thomas, True story. I was shooting an off Broadway show for pennies on the dollar and had just received the monitor to relieve my power-hungry PRO monitor while I await a battery recell. So when I put it up to my sled, I saw there was not enough crushing power on the Transvideo monitor bracket screw to keep it in place. I decided to use the PRO screw in conjunction with the Transvideo bracket. Not knowing the thread size for the interface b/t the mounting bracket and monitor arm was a different size, I created a vortex of suck when I ruined the original screw from my PRO and the bore of my new Transvideo mount, rendering all useless. Mostly me. SO, I did the show with my PRO and took what was left of my pride and put my Dremel to work. I bored the mounting bracket to allow the use of the original PRO screw threading and Mr. Paddock peformed some miracle surgery to repair the cross-threading on the PRO (thanks again, George. Check's in the mail). Painful learning experience, but at least I have two complete mounting systems mated to my scissor monitor arm and don't have to fist around too much when doing a monitor swap. Hope this helps, or at least makes you remember not to try screwing things from Europe without checking the size of the hole first... Brad Smith
Re the transvideo steadicam bracket: I've got the bubble level bracket and it's not really as beefy as I'd like it to be. I had to take it back to the supplier to have a shim washer put in. The slot where the bracket stradles the PRO standard spigot was to wide and consequently when I tightened up the bracket the whole monitor was leaning over! Good monitor, average bracket..... Incidently regarding the viewing angle, I operate goofy, so it suits me to have the monitor mounted the right way up (buttons on the right side, lcd on the left closest to me ). I'd noted the difference in the +- viewing angle so I tend to set the monitor up tilted up.... that's confusing, tilted so the screen is facing more back towords the post and less up. That way I'm taking better advantage of the viewing angle on offer, I think, I'll have to try some different setups but it seems to be working for now. My $0.02 AUD :D
Premium Members Kareem La Vaullee Posted April 29, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 29, 2006 It looks like Transvideo is now offering a Digital Level on some of their models, it's called "VirtualHorizon", the On Screen Display looks like the one on the Master/Utra Series. Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted April 29, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 29, 2006 I spend some time with Transvideo at NAB. In the moment only the smaller monitors are available with the level, but soon they will be available for all. As an optional upgrade. I was told that the Cine Monitor III will soon have a option of a bubble (3 different styles) and a single frame line generator. (All nicely in a box that attaches on the back of the Monitor). And it should rise the price only by about $300.- to $400.- bucks... I bought my Cine III as a back up unit, in case that my TB-6 decides to let me hanging (has only happened once, but it could happen again), level/bubble is build into my sled, but the framelines are part of the Monitor... I already hear you moan... but the sensor should be as close as possible by the Center Post... still not to bad as a back up right out of the box... right. There are also rumors about an HD version (HD-SDI but still capable of NTSC and PAL) of the Cine III (Cine IV ???) which will include a HD bubble and a HD frameline generator... Can't say I saw that anywhere else. Let's bug Transvideo and find out more... Fly Safe, Erwin" Eric found the spell checker" Landau
Premium Members Jerry Holway Posted April 29, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 29, 2006 Erwin- "There are also rumors about an HD version (HD-SDI but still capable of NTSC and PAL) of the Cine III (Cine IV ???) which will include a HD bubble and a HD frameline generator... Premium Members Hervé Colosio Posted April 29, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 29, 2006 what i know about this feature is nearly the same as erwin there is different colors green horizontal ±1°, yellow ±3°, red when you are clearly out of horizon just after you put your foot in the carpet . automatic switch in low mode a frameline generator they are going to go first on the rainbow super bright and just after on the cine III and it's confirmed for HDSDI version in separated box that goes on the back of the monitor
Premium Members Guido Lux Posted May 21, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 21, 2006 Hi guys! Just wanted to let you know: I just received a mail from Boland and they're making a 6.5" HDSDi/HD component etc LCD;1400nits frameline for a little less than $3000! Sounds like a great backup option to me! What do you say?! Guido "always need backup" Lux
Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted May 22, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 22, 2006 I just traded my back up Transvideo for a 2nd TB-6... It just made more sense to me as my TB-6 when ape shit on me a couple of weeks ago... turned out to be the 435 tap but I didn't know that at the time. And I would have been toast down in some catacombs with no light... Couldn't see crap. Just popped up the back up... no rebalancing needed... as the DP and the Producer looked at me like they wanted to strangle me... "What do you mean you can't see the image?" as the image went ballistic on me. Fly safe, Erwin "Two is better then one" Landau
