Do you think your Bars would be strong and long enough for Panavisions Primo Anamorphics?

They are heavy lenses with a mounting point that is a long long way away from home. But the XCS plate is very stiff and because of the weight distribution would be very far forward.

I think the DoP that had me out on these yesterday is keen to use them more often.

Hi Tom,

Well the rods are 7inches from the bridge plate, plus the 75mm of the stubs that plug into the XCS. They are certainly strong enough, I can't say if they are long enough or not, Im not sure how your setup would be arranged.

Pete.

Looking at where your dovetail plate is, I would have thought they should reach. Remembering that as freakishly long as these lenses are, you will have to offset the weight by mounting the camera plate further forward, so there should usually not be a reach issue. The only concern is if you can physically get a screw into the XCS plate far enough back without using the sliding base plate t give you the extra distance, but for the weight saved you could add something to the back of the camera and still end up lighter than when you started off. If I wasn't working you could have borrowed mine, maybe next time if you haven't bought something already...

Perhaps this is a dumb question, but what are the chances of building a Pro GPI compatible version of these brackets? Obviously this would call for a redesign of the Pro plate because it's much too thin to support this bracket. But since the bracket is already built, how about a thicker, beefed up Pro compatible plate as an option to go along with the kit? I'd bet you'd get quite a few orders on this starting with mine.

Thanks,

~ Nick
