- Over-scanned image area electronic finder or optical finder

I like that... A lot. Nice and compact, easily shoulder mounted, not trying to stretch the limits of resolution, rather focusing on dynamic range and the quality of the image. Price starts at 72 grand, but definitely competitive with Sony... Arri pretty much always makes excellent shit.

more infos - just saw the model and demonstration:

weight: around 12-13 lbs for the EV models, body only

size: between red one and d21, about the length of the Arri 416, but wider

over-scanned output on the HD-SDI Monitor bnc out (you can see outside of your framelines by about 10%)

amps: 2-3 at 24 V

A/B battery plate in the back, camera runs on a single Dionic 90

onboard recording will be available, mag size is around the size of a Hytron 140.

completely sealed electronics, one fan, less than 20db, same as Arricam

cons: no SD (ntsc/pal) output

I flew it yesterday and it truly is the game changer. The EVF is 720p (The F23/35/Genocide is 480i) The sensor performance looks to be fantastic. Arri has a winner

Loving what I'm hearing about this camera system. Can't wait to shoot with it.

HD is finally starting to move out of its awkward pubescent phase and gain a bit of elegance in the form factor. Oh wait--3D is going to ruin all of that. Never mind. We'll talk again in another 5 years.

and here is another good point, the cameras range between 50k and 120k EURO, 70K to 170K US$. MSRP

Hopefully this means that a lot of rental houses will buy them, including PANAVISION.......

And as Michael Bravin is happy to point out that's about 60% the cost of a F23 body.....

Hopefully you are right Charles -- maybe we've finally reached the zenith of stupid, heavy, power hungry cameras?

No Ron, I think that can only be achieved when a producer calls and tells you that your getting your rate on a 3D film for 10 months in New Zealand shooting on film... turns out to be true but they failed to mention the two BL4's on the 3D rig!
