Premium Members Douglas John Kropla Posted March 2, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 2, 2010 Hey Brian, sorry to just now hear about this. I would like to offer my services as personal watch dog. What I do is if anyone goes near your vehicle I whisper a warning, to cover any legal necessities, and then I drop a 16 ton weight on them. Usually there is enough left for ID purposes, but mostly just goo. Hope I made you laugh:)

Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted March 2, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted March 2, 2010 Terry, Thanks for words and your efforts. I don't think he's monitoring, but if he is... Hey man, PM me (you also have my phone #), I'll buy it off you. It's a better deal than you'll likely find considering the pieces you are missing and your total lack of knowledge about the equipment. Doug, Much appreciated sir, apparently you've done this before and to success. I can offer you one meal a day and a credit on IMDB.
Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted November 13, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted November 13, 2010 Just wanted to officially let everyone know that the rig has been recovered, a few months ago actually. Still in evidence limbo, thought I was gonna have it back by now, but all's well, I have a big rig to use. They know who stole it and have a warrant out for him. Dunno if we'll ever catch him, but fingers crossed :) Thanks to everyone who kept an eye out for it, special shout out to William Coss who spotted it on Craig's List a week after it was stolen. That ad was removed a couple hours later, and even though I saved the web page to my computer it didn't lead to anything cause the IP address where the ad was created was a coffee shop. The BFD and Modulus and Hill vehicle mount are still out there, BFD is #519. Again though, insurance took care of that stuff (and my rig, but I wanted the rig back)
Premium Members Robert Starling SOC Posted November 13, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 13, 2010 Wouldn't the rig now belong to the insurance company?
Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted November 13, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted November 13, 2010 If I wanted the money instead of the rig, yes. Gave up the money for the rig.

It does Robert, the day Brian processed a claim... which brings up the question of... Has anyone dealt with Walter P Dolle on a recovery off a claim? What would they be willing to sell it for? or Would they put it up for bids? Brian, what did WPD tell you about your battery charger when it was recovered? -Alfeo
Premium Members Douglas John Kropla Posted November 13, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 13, 2010 WOW, great to see this happen. I seem to recall one of the ops here in Montreal had her FLYER lifted a few months ago. Hey would it be of any use to build or have built a small internal GPS device to track rigs? Can it be done? What would the cost be? Come to think of it this maybe happening right now with some ops who have a few 100g's into their rigs;) Good idea, yes/no? Though I understand they used to go through WPD years ago. If something is recovered after the claim is paid, you can simply buy it back by returning the claim amount. If it's recovered before the claim is paid (like my charger) you can remove it from the claim. I suppose that would depend on why the claim hasn't been paid. In my case it was because the charger was recovered so early. I made sure to have it checked for damage before I took it off the claim. I don't know what they do with a recovered item that you don't buy back. Once, twice, thrice: I currently own my Flyer. :)
Premium Members Paul Gardner Posted November 13, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 13, 2010 Brian, Just curious...where and how was it recovered. A Steadicam is a pretty unique item to unload, so I'm guessing it wasn't a pawnshop, rather it was recovered in a raid on a meth house in cathedral city or something....(no offense meant to you cat city folks)
Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted November 13, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted November 13, 2010 Ask me in person. Suffice to say I knew HOW it would show up IF it showed up, and that's how it showed up.
Premium Members joe carini Posted November 14, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 14, 2010 Aloha Brian, Sorry to read about your loss. What a nightmare. I've had several thefts in my world. Travelling to outer islands with halliburton cases always made me nervous, as you never knew who would be standing by waiting.. Someone told me years ago to possibly avoid cases being stolen is to have stenciled in yellow, "FRAGILE: URINE SAMPLES." .... I'll keep my ears open, you never know where things end up.. Premium Members William Demeritt Posted November 14, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 14, 2010 Maybe we should have a welcome home BBQ for your Flyer, Brian?
Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted November 14, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted November 14, 2010 Thanks, Joe, but all is well now, I've moved on to a far bigger, far worse problem. :) Never a a bad reason for a BBQ, Will!
