Having problem with my gimbal.

Got perfekt static balanse, and after i wipp-pan the sled gets out of balance.

And doing another wip-pan the sled goes back to perfect balance againg.

Something i happening with the sled and I cant find out what.

But i suppose it is the bearings.

Anyone know where to order new bearings to the efp gimbal and mayby know the part#.

Could be your bearings but most likely just an adjustment in your Gimbal.

Call Mike over at Tiffen/Steadicam he fixed mine, when it was doing the same thing

I had the same thing with my Pilot Gimbal, lens pointing left and i could balance level, spin 180 degrees, lens pointing right and the lens was pointing down.

It was my gimbal not centered properly.

The Ultra 2 manual, specifically the gimbal centering part tells how to fix it.

I needed a special tool to adjust the bearings, i didn't have such a tool so i made one, a flat head screwdriver cut down the middle of the head, so now it has 2 pionts instead of a flat head.

Link to the Ultra 2 manual below.

Hope it helps, Paul.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for posting this information. Just a word of warning though, the EFP gimbals, along with a handful of other Steadicam gimbals prior to 2007, are centered by placing shims on either side of yoke to balance out the gimbal. All of our units, from Pilot* to Ultra 2, are manufactured with the design described in the link above.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Michael Craigs

*The first run of Pilot's were manufactured with the shim method.
