Currently there is not a tally light, but we can easily fit one and wire it up. What suggestion do people have for a preferred connector for the tally light? Use the 8 pin steadi lemo, or a separate connector?

Is there a tally light on the monitor?

Yes, this is the original housing and board. We hope to have the first demo of the new controller and housing around cinegear, if all goes well. Production will start a few weeks after the demo.

Chris,

Am I correct that this is still the original housing and controller board? The updated one will be ready by Cinegear?

Thanks!

I would want it wired into the 8pin lemo so it would work with my sled.

Also I'd like the tally light in the top of the monitor.

If you read back, you will see that this is something we are working on. We will have a new controller and housing in June, with full production a few weeks later. At the moment we are offering the highest resolution 6.5" and 7" screens available. They are higher resolution than what anybody else is currently offering in this size. This coupled with 1500 nits brightness, make them some of the best steadicam monitors currently available.

The big box and small screen (look at the Nebtek and Actioncam).

Quick thanks to all - I have tuned out from the board for a long while working, but was just about to pull the trigger on a new Transvideo monitor till I saw all the glowing reviews of the cinetronic. Gonna try and demo this coming week in NY, but I appreciate that you guys are so on top of this stuff, definitely appreciate the legwork and research you guys do. Thanks for the insight!

I wish I could but you can't see those monitors in the sunlight

Eric, I 've been using the Nebtek in sunlight and have no problems seeing the image. I've made a yoke for it allowing me to adjust the viewing angle for any reflective issues without changing the sled balance.

Robert was kind enough to allow me to put on his rig at NAB and take that new monitor outside for a look. The image was sharp and daylight viewable. If it upscales SD, which I did not see first hand, then that is a very good feature. My only negative impression was, to me, it seemed wide as a beer truck, but according to Robert and in a previous post, Chris says he is working on making the monitor less wide. Perhaps only as wide as the screen. While in practical terms the width may not affect the operating, it was just so different from the green screen and LCD widths I have been used to using to give me pause.

never seen the action cam, but i have to agree with Doc, the nebtek is visible in full sunlight, we have it on our show as an onboard.

the issue I have had using the nebtek is the dreaded overcast sky -- but it does ok outside. The ability to either filter that out or just plain overpower it will be welcomed. I am excited to see it perform in these conditions and check out the viewing angles. I too think the housing is a bit on the big side (like the hummingbird and tiffen ultra), but it has already been mentioned that it will go on a diet -- it will be great to see this monitor evolve over time even though out of the gate it seems pretty cool.

I am down with a shootout...hope I will be back in town by then.

As per Charles, I would certainly be interested in seeing this monitor in a side by side comparison with some of the other HD offerings. At the same time, it would be good to check out the current batch of HD transmitters. I’ve been on the fence about investing in both a HD monitor and transmitter while waiting for something that really blew me away. I’m curious to see if this is it. Anyone else interested in seeing something like this?

Brooks:

I've been threatening the transmitter shootout for some time now--that's actually one that I am specifically invested in (high-brightness Steadicam monitors aren't really in my wheelhouse any more but transmitters are). My comment above was half in jest but it occurs to me that while in the process of testing transmitters, which would include exteriors anyway, we might as well throw a few of the Steadi monitors into the mix in a more casual way than the original shootout (which, trust me, was not a casual event to organize).

This is all quite timely--will go start a new thread on this.
