Premium Members Iain Baird Posted March 27, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted March 27, 2010 Great looking finish Iain. Well done. Unfortunately I do not own a pro vest. A custom EFP vest. :) I hope you get back what you put in :) Thanks Charles, the bracket looks great and feels fantastic in use. Thanks to Taku, Walter and all the guys at Walter's shop for their great workmanship as always. Luckily my intention was never to get anything out of it except a Vest that worked for me!! If other operators think the bracket would be useful to them and purchase one then that's just an added bonus!! Cheers, IAIN
Premium Members Steve Fracol SOC Posted April 18, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 18, 2010 Iain- I was already working on a different way to put the arm in the same spot you ended up in. I did not think your way would be so easy (so I was going an easier route) but now that Walter has done the hard part... that sure makes it easier for us. I Love the mod. I totally see Erwin's point as well but I am not so worried about my warranty either. I am more worried about a crack during a shot (which seems very possible with this config)...but as I always say...make it work for you... Please keep us posted as to how well things hold up. Its sort of fun being the Chuck Yeager for new parts. Saves everyone else the trouble....LOL! Good for you and for all of us (assuming it holds up)! Thanks, Steve
Premium Members Iain Baird Posted July 18, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted July 18, 2010 Update : No news is good news. I've been using the bracket for a few months now with no issues. I've routinely checked the Spar for any signs of bending or stress fractures with no evidence of any problems. I've used the Vest quite a lot and have definitely put it through the sorts of extreme stressful conditions that would cause a problem if the design was flawed. I will however point out that I don't use my PRO vest at full length, my Spar is only halfway extended which I'm sure makes the Spar stronger than at full extension. Premium Members Iain Baird Posted November 21, 2012 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted November 21, 2012 Having just visited Walter yesterday I was reminded of this thread and the back and forth warranty/structural integrity banter it resulted in. I'm sorry I didn't see Osvaldo's question when he posted it or I would have replied sooner!! At any rate - 2 Years later and the bracket is still serving me very well with no signs of any undue wear and tear on the vest spar. I know that all of our operating styles and postures are so different that it's hard to predict what would work for any of us. But I can say that for me, having got so used to the clearance for my right arm that Walter's vest affords, this bracket is a lifesaver in keeping the transition between vests as seamless as possible. This isn't a pitch as I have no financial interests in the success or failure of this mod!! In fact Walter may not be interested in making any more as he's so busy with his other ventures (For a guy who claims to be retired he sure is busy) But if you are one of the few who purchased it I hope you find it as beneficial as I do. Premium Members Osvaldo Silvera SOC Posted November 22, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 22, 2012 Isn't visiting Walter's shop like a trip to the back halls of a Movie Magic Museum!?, He could charge admission to just walk around and watch stuff going on and see the props in every nook and cranny.
