Wrap grip for 2" posts

Let's not be shy...

I don't fly with a 2" post, but you probably already know that most over-sized grips are 2", including the vz grip for the pro (the x-large pro wrapgrip was 2.25"). I guess most just grab the post?

High mode, low mode, same difference. People wanted them for the 3a and the old school Pro for regular operating, and in low mode, for the same reason, so why not for 2" posts?

R

Good point, but the 3a and early pros didn't have an integrated grip -- I understand a desire for a short one for low mode, but who today makes a gimbal for a 2" post without an integrated grip for high mode?

I'm aware of this,..

I am only wanting one for low mode... :)

ah, I miss understood your comparison to the 3a/pro in high as well as low mode. Starting with a 2" inner diameter it might be a bit on the girthy side...it would probably be like holding a can of guinness, which might become the first positive thing about low mode, ever. One could even add a "widget" (full of lisagav of course) inside the "can" to jingle around while operating. You will probably have to make it yourself and report back how cool it is.

Even though I operate above the gimbal in Lowmode... I can see that some people would like a shorty...

Give Greg a call (1 (805) 531-0014)... he might be able to shorten one of his wrap grips (kipp handle included)... It's $1000.- new plus labor, or try to find a used or defective one, or crashed as you don't need the fine thread... but it would be a pain to put on as you had to remove the Gimbal, monitor arm and lower or upper electronics/stage to do so... depending on the rig you use... or just leave it on... but live with the longer post do to drop of the gimbal.

Off the shelf you will come out empty... call as said Greg or Tom Gleason (1 (818) 489-9370)... but there might not be such a big demand for that item or somebody would have already gone the distance and worked around the headache to get it on the market.

How about a Gorelock docking ring or two with Tennis tape? Not as sexy...

Or Tom Gleason should have some of the old auto docks that he did for me... that would be about $80.- per unit... use 2 to get the size you want and add some of the non slip 3M tape... or go to a mechanic and let it true the knurl maker...

As said, I operate above and even if I wanted one... I wouldn't have enough space in the first place... my post is a little on the shorter side... even in Lowmode.

With enough time and cash anything is possible.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies.

Erwin those ideas sound positively whacky but thanks for contributing!

Might have a word with an engineer, see if anything can be put together.

Just thought I'd check to see if there was ever anything out there already that I had missed.

I'll let you know if I have anything made,..

Cheers chaps,

Rick.

Wacky?

I haven't even started yet...

and don't for get your lisigav...

remedy for anything Steadicam...

don't forget to put the lisagav into a widget to bounce around inside the HUGE wrap grip.

in all seriousness, just get your hands on a pro wrapgrip and take it to a local machinist and get one made for the bigger post.
