Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted August 13, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 13, 2010 I read a good review of customer service on the CML forum about this manufacturer. They have an interesting HD 7" monitor that has good specs. no NITS spec, but contrast ratio 1000:1. + all the options for HD and SD. Did anyone come across this monitor? Price is decent too, for the options included. http://www.shopfsi.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=LM-0750W
Premium Members Ramon Engle Posted August 13, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 13, 2010 Hi Rob. I've used their larger monitors with the same functions. Well made, good color rendering. The focus assist function is lackluster. Its clunky in its outline ability and lags horribly. That would be my only complaint. Flanders does upgrade their monitors software as opposed to having to buy the next generation of a brand new model. I know that processor capacity eventually requires a new model but at least Flanders offers that option. I haven't seen their smaller version. Andrew Stone
Ramon how do you think the Flanders monitors compare to the Panasonic's (or other monitors) of equal size in terms of color fidelity, scopes and such? -Andrew
Premium Members Joel San Juan Posted August 13, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 13, 2010 Hi Rob, Do check out the Bon HD Monitors from Korea. They are about in the same price range but from what I have tested out so far, its really great value for money. Good luck Best Joel
Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted August 14, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted August 14, 2010 I have looked at the Bon 7" before and found that the red colors were very.... similar to each other, so that orange and deep red were almost the same, like there is not enough color separation in the processing or the fosfors are not up to it. This was in comparison to JVC and Panasonic monitors. Flanders has a different spec for the brightness, which is confusing. Most brands give a nits of 250/400 or more, with a contrast ratio of 1:200 or 1: 300. Flanders mentions 1:1000 for contrast, but what does that mean? Is it much brighter than others? Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted August 15, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 15, 2010 For about the same price you can get a Marshall 6.5" transflective monitor that kicks ass in the sun. I would be interested in seeing this monitor but I doubt its daylight viewability is all that great. ~Jess
