Premium Members David Baldwin Posted October 28, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 28, 2010 Luis, Dude I was watching that auction too. Amazing. Where the hell was this listing when I was desperately seeking an EFP three years ago? I paid $2500 altogether for a dbox 1 (mint), PRO upper junction box (also mint), PRO superpost (mint, promptly sold), and a 3A gimbal. All for $2500. I thought that was a good deal. This EFP sale blows mine out of the water. Somebody hooked themselves up with a solid beginning system for a very good price. Nice work whoever you are. Premium Members Tom Wills Posted October 29, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 29, 2010 (edited) I was outbid with about 5 seconds left on the thing... somebody really wanted that. It went from $2500 to $4550 in about 20 seconds of bidding. Shame too, since I really need a new rig. PS - anyone got an old rig in their basement they want to sell for cheap cheap cheap to me? :P (mostly kidding, since I could barely afford the eBay EFP right now!) Premium Members Carl Wiedemann Posted October 29, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 29, 2010 Tom, I was one of those last minute bidders. I couldn't bear to see that go for less than the cost of a new Pilot rig. Figured it would make good back up gear. Looks like the rig saw limited use. I'm sure the seller could have received a higher final bid if they'd set up a full week auction, rather than the three day listing. I'm still second guessing myself for not bidding higher. Somebody got a great bargain or made a strategic investment. A knowledgeable person who could evaluate the rig and testify to it's functionality could probably re-sell at a profit. Premium Members Sydney Seeber Posted October 29, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 29, 2010 the price was probably so low because the seller is a nonprofit http://www.meritpartners.org/ that sells donated items. I doubt they had any real idea as to its value. For them, it's 100% profit.
Anthony Graham
HI Just a word of caution regards Ebay, be aware a clone sale of this bargain EFP keeps popping up now and again. IT IS A SCAM! Be careful the original sale was genuine but beware on Ebay. 1)ASK questions that will trip up a seller who does not know what they have. 2)LOOK at what else they are selling. if the have loads of high value items going very cheap beware. 3)LOOK at what they have sold before have they a track record in this line of business sale (one stolen account sold baby clothes for 4 years then suddenly an EFP, motorbike, expensive stereo etc). 4)NEVER EVER buy outside ebay unless local and direct personal contact is available. 5)NEVER do a direct bank transfer or western union etc use paypal. If the seller says this in there sales listing run away. Using paypal you are protected by 1 Paypal and 2 your credit card (use your credit card not debit card with paypal) as this way the credit card insurance helps protect you too (this is uk based info I assume the same applies in the us etc) 5)EMAIL if the seller has listed a different contact email in the listing be carefull. They use this because to change your mail settings in Ebay a verification mail is sent to the old address, which will alert the seller of the stolen account details. So only use the ask seller a question link on Ebay, as it will only go to the genuine account holder. Many Thanks and good luck. Anthony P.s. I Bought a used EFP for £4500 (not from Ebay)!
