Jeff Cools
Hello everyone. I found this ad on the web and wanted to know if this is a good price to purchase? http://cgi.ebay.com/Steadicam-WALTER-KLASSEN-Vehicle-Mount-Steadycam-/140471374466?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20b4bf1282#ht_1011wt_936 Is there a standard mount that is requested most? Thanks
Premium Members Ken Nguyen Posted October 29, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 29, 2010 Hi Jeff, The price of a new unit from Walter is $1075. $900 from ebay is not a good deal at all. I would rather spend $175 more to buy a brand new unit directly from the source with full warranty. One thing I learned from used vehicle mount is: a worn-out or broken socket block dues to mis-mounted. So be careful to buy used one. Cheers, Ken Nguyen. Premium Members Mark Karavite Posted October 30, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 30, 2010 Hey Jeff, I've owned Walters vehicle mount for years & I think it's the best hard mount out there. The big difference is that Walter's hard mount gives you adjustability up and down while the rig is on the arm. This makes it very easy to trim where the sled floats while on a rickshaw, car mount, etc... In addition to a mitchell base, the Klassen vehicle mount also comes with a nicely designed speed rail mount that is adjustable for different angles of speedrail. Ken is right, just go to the source & get a new one from Klassen. You will be very happy with it.
