Canon 5D with a 16mm lens at about f10. 1080 25p slowed down by 50% in post.

Steadicam Pilot.

Shot the whole thing double time, had a lot of fun working in that amazing set that our Art Dept built.

It was originally meant to be one shot after the CG intro ends.. but i guess either the director, band or label decided they needed to fly out as well.. hence the cut right at the end.. oh well.

Let me know what you think. Definitely worth watching in HD on youtube.

Hey Joe,

The video looked great. Really inspiring that you did this with just a 5D and a Pilot - makes me want to get off my rear and get out there and shoot some stuff with my 7D on my rig now! The operating was very solid.

It must have been fantastic to work in such an elaborate set. It really didn't look like 5D footage to me (and I usually can know it when I see it - I shoot tons of it!). I think the really deep DOF helped with that. The Slow-Mo also looked fantastic for being done in post.

All in all, a great clip. Kudos!

Cheers guys glad you like it.

If definitely was fun working in that set, art department had a lot of fun making it.

Spoke to the director today and turns out making the cut and changing the ending was the clients idea.. Lets just say theres a directors cut version that im going to get a hold of.

The width of the lens made the shot easier, the whole spin around the shelf with the glass jars on it was good fun.. had to hold right to the last moment on the body pan as she walks past camera towards it.. and then accelerate all the way around to get into the position behind the shelf..

Lining her up down the damn hole in the wood was very tricky and unfortunately that final take wasn't the best version of the line up.. but it worked.. i really wish we hadn't seen that practical light above her.

A hit the rig on the table a number of times at the end as it was shaking.. blowing it right at the end sucks! I also had the large glass jar fall on my LCD screen as it fell off the table.. it didnt fall far and everything was fine. After that we put the large jay on the left hand side of the table.

FYI the shaking table was of course real as were the jars moving.. good old fishing line!

Fun times.
