Dougie Andrews
Hello all I'm pretty new here. I'm Dougie Andrews based in the UK. I work in 3d and have a question about Heden motors. Does anybody have experience of M26ve motors seizing in cold weather? If so do you have any suggestions to remedy this effect? Thanks Dougie
Premium Members Stefano Ben Posted December 8, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 8, 2010 Hi Dougie! Several times I had work for all night with the M26VE at -3 celsius / 26.6 Fahrenheit and I didn't have any problem with it! The real problem it's the condensation of internal circuits if you take the items (the receiver unit expecially) from an internal temperature to an external cold place, without switch on it's power. Anyway... The Motor doesn't have any issue, take care of your receiver unit! It's the most delicate! Seriusly... The water + the cold it's the key of your problem! the cold don't make anything to your motor... but when the water becomes ice... there its the big trouble!! The ice blocking the internal mechanisms! You must to keep dry the unit! Attached... photo about: me, my assistant with Digifox Chrosziel + Heden M26VE, and my backup light rig for extreme "cold nights" jobs! ;-) Steve "Haway Lover" Ben. Dmitry Butenko
Hi Dougie I've been using Heden motors in temperatures lower then -10 degrees C (hope you know what Russian winter is ) and never had any problems with them . Good luck
Premium Members Pedro Guimaraes SOC Posted December 31, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 31, 2010 I also used many heden motors with my cmotion for 3D in extreme temps never problems. Even outside of helicopter in freezing airstream in high altitude shooting 3D extreme skiing this year.... No problems at all....with camera, c-motion or Heden. with cold temp and wind chill....I think temps were very cold....below freezing for sure... we were all surprised when everything kept workging!
