Premium Members Jerry Franck Posted March 8, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 8, 2011 Hello, I'm having issues getting a video signal to my Archos AV400 whenever I'm shooting with an SR-3. Here my setup: - PRO 2 sled with 5V voltage regulator installed at the recorder output on lower junction box. - the 5 pin lemo port powers and sends video to the archos with one cable. I have used my archos successfully with almost all cameras. Every time I fly the SR-3 it doesn't detect a video signal. How can this be? I see an image on my monitor, transmit no problem but the archos doesn't recognize an input. Any ideas?
Premium Members David Allen Grove Posted March 9, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 9, 2011 I've run into this when working with black and white video taps. If this is the case, go into the menu of your Archos and see if it has an option for color / black and white input. Choose Black and white. I have an older Archos 420 so it might be different. Good luck.
Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted March 9, 2011 Moderators Report Share Posted March 9, 2011 Jerry, Most of the Archos type recorders will blank out (i.e. go to blue) if the video signal coming in is not 1 Volt peak to peak (meaning a good strong signal). Your tuner and monitor seem to be holding on well enough, but the tolerances of the Archos is different. You can try passing the signal through a small VDA (video distribution amplifier) and see if it makes a difference. As a test, you can also try unplugging the Modulus and see if the signal is strong enough to make the Archos happy.

Premium Members Jerry Franck Posted March 9, 2011 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted March 9, 2011 I've run into this when working with black and white video taps. Dave, that's interesting. Yes, I don't remember if I ever recorded a B&W signal. Even the film cams were all Color. Although in my archos menu it's selected to AUTO but I have the B&W option. I will def. give this a try next time! try unplugging the Modulus and see if the signal is strong enough to make the Archos happy. I did and it didn't change anything. I have a cheapo vda I can loan you if you want to mess with that. I'd take you up on that Jess if I had an SR3 lying around. But maybe at my next prep I'll hit you up. THANKS guys for the comments. I will try different combinations next time.
Premium Members robertstopfer Posted March 11, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2011 Jerry, i'd the same Problem with the SR3 , its something with the strengh of the Videosignal coming out of the sr3. it alwas worked if i didn#t use the Modulus. try to connect your Transmitter to the MM-Out. that was my Solution. rob
