Premium Members Sven Joukes Posted March 16, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 16, 2011 Hi, I tried the vest last year at the IBC and I can also say it is probably the most comfortable FM vest I've ever worn (I'm a BM user). Very well padded and very adjustable. I'm sure it can andle heavy cameras. Best, Sven
Premium Members Thomas K. Jensen Posted May 15, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 15, 2011 I also tried the Sachtler vest at NAB and IBC, and ever since I have thought about buying one instead of my Ultra2 vest. I have tried many FM vests and the comfort this one gives you, are simply the best I've tried yet. Anyone of you Sachtler Act 2 vest owners out there, want to tell about it? What you like and what you don't like about it.
Premium Members Tomas Riuka Posted May 16, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 16, 2011 I think there was already a discussion regarding this... vest choice is very much personal. I liked ACT2 vest after trying it in CINEC, but for my taste it had too many belts and cushions in the back, but it felt comfortable and the price is also good. I know that it's a personal thing. My mind is already set on getting this vest. Just wanted to hear other users, what they think of it. Premium Members Thomas K. Jensen Posted May 16, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 16, 2011 Before you pull the plug, try PRO vest if you didn't... I would love to try the Pro vest, but I'm not one of the smallest guys, and the ones I know, who are using the Pro, are all smaller then I am. Premium Members Tomas Riuka Posted May 16, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 16, 2011 Understood, but still, try harder :D the reason me being so persuasive is that myself i was planning to buy ACT2 vest, as i couldn't find PRO vest anywhere near around me. Out of nowhere Swedish operator came to my country with his own rig and PRO vest, i put that on, it fit well. Went to the show with the idea try all the rest - WK, Sachtler, Tiffen.... and guess what. Despite _really_ good price i could get on Sachtler, I ordered more expensive PRO. Touch, light and very comfy, at least for me.
Premium Members Erik Brul Posted May 16, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 16, 2011 I have tried the ACT 2 vest the last 3 years at the IBC. It is a very comfort vest and the best i have tried out sofar. It would be lovely if PRO is available on the next IBC with a complete set... Richard James Lewis
I found the Sachtler vest very comfortable, and I'm fiercely opposed to using front mount. I've always felt suffocated, unsupported and constrained, and this was the first instance I didn't feel too awkward. I haven't tried the PRO tho, which is something worth doing, it's also much lighter with as many adjustments. Worth a look before you make a decision... Best, Rick. Premium Members Tomas Riuka Posted May 17, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 17, 2011 Anyone wanting to try PRO vest, should contact PRO directly. Last year when i went to CINEC in Munich, they were willing to organize a demo through local dealers/operators, but i have already had a chance to do that, I didn't have a need to do that. Premium Members mark morgan Posted May 17, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 17, 2011 i've tried the pro and it is a very nice vest but the sachtler vest was a touch more comfortable and i want that on a long haul for sure anyday it's just more comfortable
Premium Members James Davis Posted June 6, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 6, 2011 Wow.....I just checked the price, and it is significantly cheaper than the Ultra 2/Pro etc, might look into this further after seeing the product video on it as well, I really like the way you can heavily customize the fit to different body types, the one thing that really frustrates me about my LX vest is that it just doesn't seem to built to accomodate larger guys like myself, Ultra 2 vest fits me fine, but makes me feel like the Stay puff marshmallow man, and the Pro Vest/Klassen Vest are out of my budget range at the moment. The only thing that looks a little scary to me is all the plastic buckles, but I guess they are no worse/better than the ski boot style closures on the LX vest. There are no problems with plastic buckles. I had a Sachtler vest old style (5 years) and ACT2 (2 yeas). And I'm fly with heavy cameras.
