Business Plan Training

After lurking for several months I wanted to finally post and thank everyone for providing the information that guided me to taking formal training. I attended the Lake Arrowhead Classic this past March-April. It was a great experience and fueled my passion for wanting to become an operator. The instructors (Jerry, Garrett, Peter, Chris, Ruben, and Dan) were fantastic! I also had the opportunity to meet many of the members of this forum in person and they are all great people. I’ve realized that this is a very small and close-knit community.

 

Like the many that have come before me, the question that came after training, however, was “Hmmm…I really liked that, now what?” I was eager to rush out and buy a big rig and start practicing without much thought as to how I was going to make money doing it. Up until a couple of weeks ago I was ready to do a “Thelma and Louise,” plunk down my money, and make a full go of it without any real business strategy.

 

I remembered seeing that another member of this forum, Robert Starling, had offered a Business course with a rig he had for sale awhile back. I decided to ask around to find out what it was all about and eventually ended up giving him a call to learn what his training covered. To make a long story short, my wife and I invested in two days of training with Robert and we’re extremely pleased with the outcome. I already have a small business (in a completely different field), but we both gained an incredible insight into the business side of the Media industry. The outcome of the two days of training was a realization that I have some work to do to build a solid business foundation in my market. Once that is in place, I’ll be able to sustain my passion for Steadicam over the long haul.

 

I recommend contacting Robert if you’re just getting started in this business or if you’re stuck trying to figure out how to make money with you’re gear. The training is structured with a formal outline and is not an informal chitchat session. Robert is very professional. At the end of the session he provides a plan that will help you meet your short and long-term goals. From there, it’s up to you to follow through.

By the end of the second day you'll have a super focused and specific set of goals for you, the individual, to follow through and achieve.
