Out of curiousity, can anyone confirm that those drawings of the brackets were made by Ted Churchill? Looks a lot like the style he was into in the early 90's--he did a bunch of the PRO at that time, so it would make sense if he was doing some for Bob also.

Yes those were done by Ted

Ted Churchill was very close with Bob DeRose at the time. He designed/made the sales Brochure for DCE (DeRose Cinema Engineering) in 1990 under the "Churchill Graphics" Banner.

And also was tightly involved in the design of the stand alone monitor for the new PRO 1. Ted also designed/wrote/draw up the first PRO manual in 1993 (again as Churchill Graphics, he also wrote some of the manuals text with his destingtive wording . If I recall the story right, then George thought a manual was not necessary...Ted thought that the rig should go out with a manual... so Ted made the Manual.

For the newbies amongst us, could anyone tell me about the history of the Pro's development? I know the general story but can anyone talk specifics here, as in which operators were involved, who designed what, who was/is bob de rose. Did Chris Haarhoff design the donkey box for de rose or GPI or what? Just curious. The steadicam has always had a fantastic history and its a pity its not documented more. (C'mon Garrett finish that book:)) Cheers.

Stephen,

Stay tuned for upcoming posts in the "Journals" section (because, I can't post pix in "Gerneral Discussion"), titled:

"Bob DeRose" and

"Paddock Radical Options"

I had some time between two jobs, but bare with me they are just quickly from the top of my head, so allow for some paraphrazing and omissions as well as for some forgotten/wrong info... I will try and include some pictures.

Fly safe...

I have made a couple of pix with my 35mm still camera have to fill 'em up... until then have to wait...

My wife is (FINALLY) back from Europe and brought her Digital camera... BUT I just lend the Bracket out...

Here a picture from the original DCE sales brochure:

Hello,

I just found this group so this response is probably a tad late, The illustration that was in question was created by Ted. He went through a lot of graphic imaging at the time, does anyone remember his t-shirt line? He was one of my best friends, everyone film related or not owe him a nod for what he did for cinema and well humor.

Ahh..... another one with a alias, just registered but apparently a good friend of Ted, so he must be around for a while......

If only the new "members" would take the time to fill in little things like where they are based, what they do and did, it makes it all more transparent and friendly.

Would you care to tell a little bit more ASLAN401?????
