Thanks everyone for your kind words!  Charles Papert contacted me and suggested that I write up something discussing the shot, challenges, execution, etc.  So instead of wasting screen space here I’ve made an entry in my blog about it.  Feel free to check it out if interested.

Excellent! Thanks for sharing the details of this shoot with us. You did a great job of stepping us through the process and painting a picture of what it entailed. Very clever use of mapping the "float" during the time-lapse.

That has to be one of the best steadicam shots I have ever seen. Absolutely fantastic work Ben and everyone involved.

I really enjoy being so engrossed in the scenario to the point where I forget what the camera is actually doing, and how the camera is being wrangled... IE steadicam etc.

I am a fellow steadicam operator and I hope I can achieve a spot like that. Very inspiring and very emotive.

Again great work and that should be in the top 20 of best steadicam shots.. and just to expand.. The 2009 Eurovision shot is an amazing shot, and not to take anything away from what the operator did..

But what Ben and the director and crew have achieved with the 5 minutes is just beautiful choreography between the talent and the crew. Just a pleasure to watch and I didn't want the scene to end.

And.... What amazing lock off's man when you lock off your are like a friggen tripod!

Thanks everyone! Your kind words are certainly appreciated. Thought some of you might be interested in a behind the scenes video theberrics.com posted from the shoot. Please note that the video opens with a shot of me stepping onto the golf cart... it was taken during a rehearsal and you'll note that the step-on isn't very smooth... i assure you it went better when cameras were actually rolling!!!

Beautiful work. I've been dying to see cinematically shot skate boarding and every now and then I brain storm ideas for my self. This is far beyond anything I have thought of. Excellent operating, I love the transition onto the golf cart. The behind the scenes where the guy tries to sneak a peak cracks me up. The last music video I was on there was this one girl shooting epk who realizes shes in the cross fire and literally sprints full speed and I catch it all in the background.

Either way, looks like you have yourself a new reel. ;-) Lets face it, its got a bit of everything.
