Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted January 3, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 3, 2012 Thanks for the offer. Bit pricey for me right now. Seriously why would you buy that used gimbal when you could get a NEW XCS gimbal for a few hundred more?
Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted January 3, 2012 Moderators Report Share Posted January 3, 2012 While I agree with Eric in general, I do feel the need to point out that a new XCS gimbal and Ergo handle is closer to $7K. Times have changed! (I bought a 2nd gimbal this past year and was a little shocked at the tag).

Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted January 3, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 3, 2012 The point is a EP design gimbal is a relic of the past. The XCS gimbal (and PRO) are so far superior that it's not even a fair fight
Premium Members Stefano Ben Posted January 3, 2012 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted January 3, 2012 Obviously Eric have right! I Understand your point Eric and I'm agree with you, but All depends about your feeling with your gimbal. This is why, this gimbal have the same bearings on the handgrip but have this kind of Handle... for the EFP/3A Gimbal Lovers. Maybe I'm wrong but... I'm still loving the 3A Handle and I hope I'm not the only one! Also... Some of the Best shoots in the Past years was made with a 3A or a Pro1 Sled.... So..??? This Means that it's not the perfect equipment but the Guy into his Vest... That Guy make the difference... with his passion and fearless determination... Not an XCS or PRO or TIFFEN or MK-V Sled... Only the Operator maybe with his Old 3" Green Screen Monitor. Yeah! I'm one of us to have changed/upgraded his equipment to have a wonderfull and new Stuff (Pro Hybrid Sled, TB-6 Monitor, WK Harness, Lots of Original Cables and accessories) but when I see a beautifull shoot made by some of the best Italians Steadicam Op. that still shooting with a 3A or a Pro1 Sled.... I think "Wooow" and I say to me "Can all this my perfect, expencive and NEW stuff make the difference in the FRAME????" Maybe in the future to come will be the "Space Sleds" that will flying on air without any arms or vests... But The rules will remains the same of the past and today... Like I said before... All depends on the Guy! Just my 2 cents. However... Like we had discuss... This is an excelent Gimbal and cost around 2k less than a XCS Gimbal. Have the same bearings and almost the same design except for the 3A Handle. Best, Steve.

I really love this quote Stefano.. finally someone who says it like it is (I.M.H.O). :) But i have wondered many many times about several shoots (also from the past ofcourse) which were done with stone age equipment but with wonderfull results. I'm in the market for a bigger rigs and it is possible that i will settle for the next years again with again a older system like that SK2 i had. I did some really nice shots with that oldskool rig (3A style gimbal) which i did not believe when i watched playback.. Oldskool rules :) just my worthless 2 eurocents
