Shawn Adams
I have a Provid and a Flyer and I got the Marshall HD monitor (V-LCD651STX) with HDMI in. I mainly shoot with 5DII's and the Red Epic on my Flyer. How can I get an HDMI cable through the post? It has such a small diameter. I've seen the Micro HDMI cables that will fit, but no adapters to take Micro HDMI to Mini or standard HDMI on the ends... Suggestions?? Thank You. Premium Members John atkinson Posted February 3, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 3, 2012 It's probably something you should pass on. HDMI cables are fragile and go bad all the time. The minor inconvenience of the cable running to the monitor is far less than replacing one running throughout the post. JA
Premium Members Rob Vuona SOC Posted February 3, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 3, 2012 I have to agree with John, I had this conversation with Tiffen when designing my rig and wiring it from scratch and the consensus was that it was not a good idea , maybe in the future. Maybe go with a Decimator hdmi to BNC adapter
Premium Members Stephen Wymer Posted April 11, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 11, 2012 Atomos Connect and the Aja HA5 will allow you to convert HDMI to HD/SD-SDI to run through the sled and out into a Decimator 2 to reconvert to HDMI(or HDMI active loop?). Sounds more like killing a fly with a shotgun than anything, and I don't even know if it would work. Personally, when I fly a camera with only HDMI, I just run the cable as tight as possible straight to the monitor, via HDMI to VGA adapter (no HDMI on my monitor). It's not ideal but it allows me to switch to and fro Don Juan, and any changes in static balance tend to be minor if at all.
Jerry Phim
This is what I'm doing with my modified glidecam, this was a few months ago, I recently added the curved handle and an addition telescoping post on the top. Premium Members Wolfgang Troescher Posted June 2, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 2, 2012 An alternative to Aja ha5 is a little converter box from blackmagic (HDMI to SDI). The advantage is, that this box has a built in battery (however, the battery is empty after just 2 hours). Blackmagic
