Premium Members luis castro Posted February 9, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 9, 2012 Since several years ago I'm seeing a lot of steadicam operators who work carrying the post with their right arms, when they should use their left arms. If you are right-handed you should take the mechanical arm and gimbal on the right, and if you are left handed you should take mechanical arm and gimbal on the left . Why? then people tend to take the post with your right hand. when they should use the technique, perhaps it is because many operators have not done a work shop? Please tell me if I'm right

Premium Members Peter Milanov Posted February 9, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 9, 2012 Ah, now you have used the translator. Now I know why people always quote in their replies, to avoid looking stupid when the post above is edited... Now the question you have almost make sense. Not quite, but almost. I don´t think you are right with your statement.
Premium Members JobScholtze Posted February 9, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 9, 2012 If you mean you need to be regular instead of goofy, i say, what do you care. People should use the side wich the prefer, nuff say'd. If you mean something else, i dont get it :-)

Premium Members James Davis Posted February 16, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 16, 2012 Goofy all the way, tried regular in the beginning andjust did not feel natural. Although feel like I should train it a little though just in case I ever need to use it for whatever reason.

Although feel like I should train it a little though just in case I ever need to use it for whatever reason. is true . Hi all, Yep I also agree , I am a new Pilot operator- I am right handed but fly goofy. I play a right handed guitar which requires both hands to be dextrous-but I cannot play left handed. However I shoot a longbow left handed ( bow in the right hand)- and all of this because it feels right. SO if it feels right then that's one bit of learning out of the way in my opinion. Now I can concentrate on mental planning of moves, holding horizons etc- all difficult enough! Cheers from a steadicam newbie!
