Premium Members Michael Stumpf Posted January 30, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 30, 2004 I know this topic had been discussed in the past so my intent isn't to completely rehash the topic BUT... seeing as I am looking at consolidating a few cases (all of which currently are Pelicans) I thought I'd ask for a quick comparison from those who've had or tried both. Also, I know of a couple of places that sell Pelican cases for well below MSRP, but don't know of a single place that sells Storm cases below the MSRP. I'd like to price compare as well. Thanks, Michael
Mitch Gross
I really like the Storm cases. Very solidly built with the simplest, easiest to open latches and the handles have a nice comfortable rubberized surface. Dimensions and sturdiness/reliability are pretty much the same as Pellican. When I went looking for a Storm Case on the East Coast I had to resort to calling Storm (Hardigg) and getting a bunch of dealers' names and contacts. In just a few phone calls I found a place in Philly that sold it to me for the same price as case4less but without the exorbitant shipping costs. I think I saved about $50 in five minutes of phone calls.
Premium Members David Allen Grove Posted January 30, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 30, 2004 Hi Michael, I own a storm case if you ever want to see it in person.... I went with the storm after reading C.P.'s recommendation. I have absolutely no complaints. Love the wheels, the soft grips and the handle extender, the push in and pull latches. You can have pick-and-pluck or custom cut. Sorry, I've never owned a pelican.
Premium Members Charles Papert Posted January 31, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 31, 2004 I've been in communication with Hardigg about setting up a group discount for us, which is apparently going to be brought up with their National Sales manager at a February meeting. My belief is that the day I have bought my very last case, this discount will go into effect! Their word is that their pricing to distributors is actually lower than Pelican's, but the the dealers seem to mark them up more. There is hope yet for all this coming about.
