Premium Members Matt Doll Posted May 1, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 1, 2012 hey everybody, doing a red epic job. i have a u2 top stage getting ready to buy the red power cable from tiffen. can anybody tell me without a doubt that this cable will also power the epic even though it is part listed as a Red power cable not a red epic power cable. just wanted to make sure nothing changed from the red to the red epic voltage wise or polarity. not my camera don't want to fry it. love to find out asap job is wednesday, ordered it today to ship. Derek felt like it was compatible but i sensed a little uncertainty. thanks, Matt Doll cell 910 540 4747 (text only) imagemidvision@yahoo.com
Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted May 1, 2012 Moderators Report Share Posted May 1, 2012 Matt, The RED ONE (and MX) and the Epic have different power connectors. In theory, the Epics have an adapter with them so you can use the RED ONE cable, but I would never count on it. Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted May 1, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 1, 2012 Seconded. The Red MX cable works with the Epic adapter, but it's kind of awkward to use. Terry West made an Epic cable for me, and it works great. It's also cheaper than the Tiffen Red MX Cable.
Premium Members Matt Petrosky Posted May 1, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 1, 2012 Terry just made me a couple Epic/Scarlet cables as well. Fast turnaround! -Matt
Moderators Louis Puli SOC Posted May 1, 2012 Moderators Report Share Posted May 1, 2012 Hi Matt If you need a remote On/Off for the Epic I have found PLC remote box works well .http://www.plcelectronicsolutions.com/ Good luck Louis Puli
Premium Members Jay Kim Posted August 31, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 31, 2012 I got two Epic power cables (for PRO II Sled) from Michael Irgang (NYC). He built custom cables for Able Cine before and his works are top-notch like Terry West. He also modified my Decimator2 power using Lemo 4-pin connector. Here is his contact info.
