Premium Members Osvaldo Silvera SOC Posted September 14, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 14, 2014 Andrew, you mentioned the CamJam yoke with the HD6. I've had that combination for a year and with all the running around I do on the live shows, it's the best Yoke/Monitor bracket I personally have ever used. I bought one monitor yoke and quattro dual arm bracket for each sled, one with the yoke for a Cinetronic Gen 1 and the other with a Transvideo HD6. Excellent item. Premium Members John Perry SOC Posted September 14, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 14, 2014 Brooks...i'm using Matthias's yoke with a DP7 on one of my sleds. I'll get you some pictures when i'm back in LA this week. It's an excellent, well built yoke with plenty of clearance on the bottom, so it should work with the spirit. I would also be interested in getting a modded spirit level for the DP7 if you get Michael Kramer to do it.
Premium Members David Aim Posted November 3, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 3, 2014 Hi , Interesting topic, but nobody speaks about the noticeable delay on HD-SDI input that have the DP7-Pro HB. Question to those who have both SmallHD and Transvideo monitors, does the Transvideo have the same issue? If yes, is it worth or better? Premium Members Walter F. Rodriguez Posted November 3, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 3, 2014 I am glad you are asking this question because I was thinking of buying one to pull focus. I currently own Ikan MD7 Version 2 Hight Bright also known as the Bon 073-sch. It does not have any perceived delay.
Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted November 4, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 4, 2014 I've never noticed a delay. One of my ACs owns a DP7 HB to pull focus off of, he loves it. I love it too. I'll keep an eye out for a delay next time, but it seems to not be an issue for everyone who has not mentioned it.
Premium Members Peter Sheppard Posted November 4, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 4, 2014 Hi guys, Ive owned my DP7 HB for about a year now and love it. When I first got it I thought I'd made a massive mistake in getting it as the apparent refresh rate is pretty bad, (David I think this is the delay you are talking about) it was like watching progressive without any shutter in. After about 2 days of using it my eyes adjusted to it and now I can't see it at all. Very strange how your eyes adjust to things like that but they do. Apart from the useless level I just love the monitor. A good size, weight and picture for me. I'd definitely recommend it. Pete.
Premium Members John atkinson Posted November 4, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 4, 2014 I got the DP-7 2 weeks ago. It is the best High bright monitor I have ever used. The features are excellent. Weird menu structure, but I love it. JA
Premium Members Afton Grant Posted November 4, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 4, 2014 Under $5k, it's the best all around monitor available. I find the menus simple to navigate and set. Never noticed a delay (even specifically checked for one yesterday). Over $5k my money would go to Transvideo. Looking forward to seeing where the TB7 falls.
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted November 4, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 4, 2014 What do you do guys for Digital horizon with the DP7?
Premium Members William Demeritt Posted November 4, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 4, 2014 What do you do guys for Digital horizon with the DP7? I've got the Tiffen Wagner Module on my rig for digital horizon indicator, and a bubble as backup.
Premium Members Chris Van Campen Posted November 4, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 4, 2014 On a related note, has anybody heard any more on this rumor that Small HD is working on an external level interface with Tiffen? Anyone heard more on this? The Wagner is great, but viewability suffers in direct sunlight. Would be GREAT to get that info on screen
Premium Members Walter F. Rodriguez Posted November 4, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 4, 2014 I owned the SmallHd AC7 Oled SDI when it first came out about two years ago. It had really slow refresh rate and tearing issues. Lots of motion blur that I never saw on any lcd. I had to sell it.
Premium Members Colin Donahue Posted November 5, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 5, 2014 I got the DP 7 standard brightness about 6 months ago. I never noticed any delay or refresh rate issues, but I found the pixel to pixel function almost usless for focus. The video artifacts and tearing is so great that it is actually harder to tell focus on pixel to pixel. This was on the Sony 800 XD cam, not the highest resolution camera, but it shouldn't look as bad as it does. Has anyone noticed this with the High Bright model? Premium Members Walter F. Rodriguez Posted November 5, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 5, 2014 Same thing on the AC7 Oled. The pixel to pixel wash mush. Seemed like the monitor was trying to process the image when it should be doing less not more in that mode.
Premium Members David Aim Posted November 5, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 5, 2014 I don’t understand guys telling they don’t see any delay, it’s so obvious to me at each beginning of take with the slate. Whatever the camera I work with (Alexa, F55) same result. For those who doubt, clap your hands in front of the lens, and watch the image on the DP7, HB or OLED I’ve both, you will heard the sound at least 3 or 4 frames before your hands claps. I’ve ask SmallHD support for a possible improvement, here is their answer: “There is going to be some delay between the camera and any monitor that is used. We have found in our testing that we fit into the industry standard for the delay. “ The pixel to pixel function without improvement could be troubling. I ask SmallHD to add an pix to pix indicator in the next firmware. Once I give the OLED to the director, keep the HB on the sled, but he involuntary select the function, the monitor wasn’t lock, and it took me time to understand why he ask me to leave so much air over the head! The horizontal indicator is better than nothing, but I really which we could select another type of indicator like this [--- . ___] SmallHD should really consider an improvement in the way to show the level. Even with those issues, I still love my two DP7-Pro monitors and I always looking forward for improvements in the next firmwares.
