Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted August 20, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 20, 2013 Just wanted to let you guys know that we already have the panels in-house, and the backlight-upgrading is taking place as I type this. The better news is that shipping for HB-SX pre-orders are scheduled to start in mid-July. This does mean that there will be a several week back-order for those who have not placed a pre-order, though. We will ship the pre-orders first. To be clear, the brightness on this model is listed at 1500 NITS, but can exceed its listed brightness. The DP7-Pro OLED-SX monitors will be shipping in 2-3 weeks for those that have placed a pre-order. Please don't hesitate to contact our Support Team if you have questions about your pre-order! support@smallhd.com Thanks, Dave SmallHD Team I guess not and the ETA was flawed

Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted August 27, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 27, 2013 I received this from SmallHD today: Alan Wes here (CEO of SmallHD). I needed to reach out and to let you know that our DP7-PRO High-Bright monitors will likely not ship by the end of the month (August). This is not the news I’d like to be sharing with you—the final delivery of this product has been a frustrating process so far. I’m disappointed to say that we’re still suffering at the mercy of our LCD manufacturer. They have taken far longer to deliver displays than they originally stated, which has been the single source of the delay. (We would have switched to a new supplier, but our high-bright enhancement modules have been designed around this specific panel and purchased long ago). The good news is that they finally delivered a partial shipment and the high-bright enhancement is being performed as we speak. We may actually ship the first few out by the end of the month, but the rest will be delivered throughout September and October based on incoming supply and speed of production (and your place in line). We sincerely apologize for the continued delay and are making internal process changes to help prevent these types of situations in the future. It’s never easy getting cutting-edge technology like the DP7-PRO HB-SX out into the field—but we’re certain that once you finally get this amazing monitor in your hands, you’ll know it was worth the wait. Thanks Wes
Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted August 27, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 27, 2013 Huh, imagine that a LCD supplier holding up a monitor Manufacture.... Sounds familiar
Premium Members William Demeritt Posted August 27, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 27, 2013 No wonder why Apple still buys LCD panels from Samsung, even though the other business units are suing the hell out of each other. You find someone who can actually deliver, and you stick with them.
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted August 27, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 27, 2013 I remember hearing early on that SmallHD switched panels part-way through development because the supplier discontinued the screen. It must suck having to rely on other manufacturers for such critical components.
Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted August 27, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 27, 2013 What sucks is that more and more manufacturers find it ok to announce products way ahead of their completion, take money and don't deliver...

Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted September 2, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 2, 2013 (edited) That looks pretty good.... Do you know if there is an option for a remote sensor? http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?/topic/16349-Dp7pro-high-bright&do=findComment&comment=90773 We've discussed it earlier in the thread. Basically, it's up to customer demand, so if you want one, tell them. I would prefer that they make an x-port accessory to allow the connection of the Wagner or other third party level. Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted September 2, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 2, 2013 Funny how much info there is available about levels and what we need/want and sensor placement, yet few pay attention and actually act surprised when we tell them what they just came up with isn't exactly what we want.
