Would love to ad to this discussion that BECOSE the made a upgrade to the X series, g50/70 owners now own a useless arm that cant be sold for a normal price. The devaluation is Hugh if you didn't do that upgrade. So, OR you upgrade your g70 and pay more then a pro, or count your loses and buy a pro, which i did.

Btw, got an G50 here that holds the door open for grabs

peace of mind = priceless

Yes it is. My gear needs to work every time I pick it up, that's why I have made the gear choices I have

should we start talking about resale value now... :)

Talk to Job about taking it in the shorts.... A freaking doorstop!

With the level that our gear is at (at an industry-wide level), I think we can almost always take the equipment out of the equation and look at our operating as the variable that is inducing any unwanted motion within the frame.

No we can't, that's why Tiffen had to "Fix" the G- Series arm.

Oh. Right. Almost forgot about that.

How has the "fix" worked out for those that have had it done and have worked (a lot, please) with the upgraded arm? Are any of those arm-owners running a de-tuned arm? Asking purely out of curiosity as I'm a de-tuner myself.

Hope everybody's bells have been jangled on this sleepy Boxing Day!

Twojay, I had my bearings upgraded, mostly by accident, due to a fall on the beach that resulted in the arm going back to Tiffen and being cleaned out. The new bearings are nice, but honestly I liked the arm prior to the fall as well.

Is it the best arm out there? Probably not, but do operators make wonderful shots with that arm as well as the PRO, not to mention the steadyrig arm, satchler arm, and how about the tried and true 3A? I miss any? The answer is yes. Good operators make great shots with all of the above arms, some of those shots might even be considered epic or classic.

My point is that no one is happy about the bearing issue, and IMHO I think that Tiffen handled it poorly at best, not making any concessions to those who had purchased the arms in good faith, believeing that they were fully competent pieces of machinery. HOWEVER, the G50 and G70 are pretty good arms, that with the right operator can make help that operator make pretty darn good images and serve that operator for many years to come.

Let's move on.

I've had my G50 upgraded two months ago, and now I'm not seing my footsteps anymore.

So for me the bearing upgrade, has made my work much easier.

Would I have chosen a Pro arm and another rig, if I have known the different choices then? Maybe I would. But the Tiffen rig I own, works for me - and it has some great features that I like and use all the time.

I have never tried to do any maintenance of the arm. I think this gear like a Tripod or a camera. If somethings break I send it in for repair. No big deal.

Happy holidays

Hi all,

This post is getting worst and worst.

I'm sick of it.

I think some of you didn't do any research or play dump!

Till today, as most of us know, PRO arm is still the best comparing to other arms in the market.

The G50X and G70X are too new, too young for the comparison and testing.

And PERIOD.

I myself own 4 arms (3A, Baer-Bel, Master, PRO)

I am begging all of you guy. Please stop and move on to other more helpful topic.

This kind of topic is a time-bomb which sooner or later will destroy this community.

Happy Holiday, and a better coming year.

Ken Nguyen.

no one is playing dumb other then people talking about an arm they don't own, please leave the words flow, they are of incredible value for all of us in the choice of upgrading buying or whatever we would like to do.

I'm sorry to everyone.

I didn't want to go back to this topic anymore.

But, you know "the flag wants to stop waiving, but the wind won't stop"

Matteo, I don't need to own one so I can talk about it.

I'm here, living and working just about 30min drive from Hollywood.

I can get my hand on any of the arm being sold in the market.

I can borrow from friends (yes, a lot of friends), rent it, or try it at the manufacturers or dealers.

I did plan to sell my Master and 3A arms to buy..., but I changed my mind.

Hope this is clear enough for you to understand why I don't own one.

And, yes, I'm not replying anymore to this post.

I'm out. I threw the towel on the floor.

Cheers,

Ken Nguyen.

Hey Steve

I think the problem is the same as we discussed already, especially as you can feel it on the lift knob. Chase Robin up for the tool if you never had one or try and find one that will fit the nut under the lift control to remove the play. It's also mentioned very briefly in one of the manuals. I'd try and get it before IBC or you may be waiting a while.

Best regards

James
