I've heard mention of these now and again. Now I am looking to buy a handful of 32 pitch flexible gear rack strips, so I can always have a rack available to mount to various broadcast lenses.

Anyone have a source for them?

Many thanks,

Peter Abraham, S.O.C.

I've known a few people to use these, and they say they're pretty good. Fix on with zip ties, and you can get a whole kit of them for all sizes of lens for $50.

There are more pricey options, but the zip tie versions are quick and easy.

Superb, thank you one and all. Now I've got options !!!!

I shudder to put in mind what I had to do back in the day- which was buy large spur gears with no hole, made of bakalite, then drill using an adjustable hole saw to the proper I.D., then drill down into the wall and tap to allow set screws to hold the gear in place. This is a simpler solution.

The zip tie method that Tom linked to does require a bag of, as they used to say back where Charles is from, wicked small zip ties to connect through.

The Half-Inch Rails zip tie versions as Tom linked above work great, are inexpensive.

Thanks for the mention Charles.

Some notes. This is the product current 'home page' is http://www.halfinchrails.com/rigs-and-kits/zip-tie-focus-gears

I hope the low cost is driven by simplicity of design not by any functional compromise, I could geek on for hours about how a zip tie is better than an aluminium clasp, specifically if a powerful remote focus is used incorrectly, hopefully the tie will break before the lens/mount is damaged. Of course you guys would never make such an error!

Jag and Wideopen Camera are the same product as HIR, with a different logo, also made here in Cornwall, UK. B+H stock too I think under the WOC brand and RobertWhite in the UK, Mavis in Germany and some others. RobertWhite are competent global shippers.

Most owner operators get one per lens and leave it on.

If you do need to get a bag of ties because you are using rental lenses etc 100mmX2.5mm zip ties is what you want.

Happy pulling
