Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted April 3, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 3, 2004 As there is not really anything happening on this forum right now I thought: let´s click on that Basson Steady link.... I´m pretty sure this guy that "demonstrates" has not done any workshop before! Just look at the grip at the gimbal. I will try it myself, maybe it will improve my operating. It´s always good to take advice from a pro! Johanwindfeld
B) Yes thats right! I have also tryed the Basson Steadicam and the Basson is not a Steadicam no, but it is also very mutch under the steadicam price! dont forget that <_< The Basson is flying okay and fine with any Beta,DVCAM, and even bigger like HD and 16 mm. The steadi needs some ajustments, but the operator can very well make them him self and save a load of money. The basson is a bit more heavy, the arm is working as a steadi arm, but its more in the way of the operator when you are in small places. The batteri system is crap!! needs to be replaces with a professional Anton Bauer/PAG og other.. when you buy a Basson it comes with a motorcycel batteri or somthing like that  ;)

Johanwindfeld
If you are a new steadi operator with no money then The basson is quite okay. The Basson is not as good as a cp steadicam but its better than a glidecam or a hollywood lite. remember the basson can fly a big camera and a small movie camera! and the operator can make the steadi even better with: New batteri system vest ajustments arm ajustments replace electronic. wires and connectors replaces with standart like "lemo and BNC" the basson has phono from new! You have to try it before you can say what you think of it! And this is comming from a Steadicam operator that works with a Ultra & EFP B)
Premium Members Bryan Trieb Posted June 8, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 8, 2004 And here I thought the only way to fly a big film camera on a Basson Steadicam system was through the use of photoshop..... www.eyemotion.ca (click on steadicam)

Premium Members JobScholtze Posted June 8, 2004 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted June 8, 2004 Sorry, but the hole system is crap. You need to upgrade your gimbal - post - and all the rest. Better get a good one.

Johanwindfeld
Tjeck the new basson system on the official web site www.bassonsteadi.com.ar The firm has made a bigger and new model that takes more weight. And the Canadian firm! Well thats somthing else, that is a scam and fraud ;) To chargen 9.000 USD over the normal price is so unprofessional. And yes the Basson rental is a bit high (800USD) bettter if it was 450USD BUT again- remember that the prices on rental and sale you have is from the scam company in Canada... they cant be taken serius  See ya

Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted June 9, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 9, 2004 Johan, Are you holding shares of that company? Seams like it, as you posted 5 times about it in the last 5 hours... defending it. Crap stays crap at what ever way you look at it... cheap crap or fancy, expensive crap... It can be inexpensive and still work well. This does neither. Erwin "What's your point?" Landau, SOC www.landaucamera.com
Johanwindfeld
very funny :D no no I live in Europe and I have a CP Ultra, but im only saying that if you only have seen photos of other systems, then how can you say what it feels like to fly.. Many operators say if its not CP it's crap.. (Yes a Porsche is great but a Fort can also do the work... you see my point)
JasonMcKelvey
Although I'm a very green... I can't even say operator really... but I was at NAB and flew everything there including the Basson. The Basson thing is, without question, a piece of crap. Although it doesn't hold anything over 15 pounds, the Hollywood Lite model (not the Running Rig, the other one) was accually a good value... not as good as the flyer by far, but a good value for the money and is a great example of a very usable product for the money, staying within it's limits. The Basson however is an example of a poorly designed product that isn't worth its raw material costs. My opinions, Jason
Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted June 12, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 12, 2004 Johan, have you really looked at their website? Would you trust a company that does not even know how to show, hold and build a Steadicam with your money? NOT EVEN ONE $ or ?!!!!!!!! just look at the pictures: A guy looking at the camera, not at his monitor! Of course, he can hardly see the monitor as he is holding the rig in front of his navel, blocking the screen with the post and his hands. So he definately does not know what he´s doing! Then: a manual FollowFocus on the camera, is he out of his mind? The bunch of loose hanging, very professional looking cinch- plugs wrapped around the post, The very helpful EXTENDED Viewfinder on the camera........ Oh, and look at his pants just under the rig, he has just been pissing in them, probably because he is scared it might all fall apart any moment! I´m not finished: look what they say about the monitor kit: BASIC Accessories needed, NOT INCLUDED What do you mean, it´s BASIC for this system, but you don´t get them from them? There are more totally wierd things here, but I will stop now. Sorry, but this is all a very bad joke and not worth one cent !!!! CRAP. CRAP, CRAP!!!
