Premium Members Kyle Fasanella Posted November 12, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 12, 2012 After having the bottom batteries drop on me I have been making sure my post screw to adjust centerpost length has been tight. Maybe to tight as the part on the inside, the rounded nut like part is striped. Looking to figure out whats its called and where I might be able to find a replacement. Image in attachment I also like to make sure I don't damage my centerpost by over tightening. Any tips out there? Is there any kind of washer I should have on the inside to help with griping the posts vs the metal on metal situation? I know PRO gear only. It looks like this came from a PRO Gen 1 center post which would make this the brass nut that is on the inside of the center post. What material is this made of? Because of the tarnishing it looks like wood! At any rate if it is from PRO it has a 10-32 thread size and they no longer make them. Your cheapest bet is to do as Eric has suggested and get a helicoil for it. If you want to replace it, call Michelle or Chad at PRO (541-389-5485) and ask if they have the brass center post nut for a gen 1 post. They might have one or two left. As was indicated, there is no need to over tighten this or any of the screws on a PRO sled, arm or vest...ever. If you are having to do this there is something wrong and I would advise you to send your gear in for service. Kyle stripped it on pretty much the first job he ever did with the rig, not realizing that the tension shoe was so delicate and didn't require much force. All is well!
