Premium Members Hervé Colosio Posted February 25, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 25, 2006 13 mm is very tiny , the 3A is 15.9 mm and the master 18.9mm that i'm looking is on the g50 with what you says there is some with 18.9mm post and some with 15.9mm (or 13mm) does the change comes from the roller ring on the arm ? or does the change comes from the type of posts like a post adaptor and the roller ring is always the same ? Premium Members Jerry Holway Posted February 25, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 25, 2006 All- You should order your G-50 with the post size that fits your rig. It's possible to machine adapters to go from the smaller sizes to the larger MS/Ultra diameter (.740 inches), but there's always a possibility of the adapter slipping off when you dock the rig. Premium Members Anders Holck Petersen Posted February 27, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 27, 2006 Here is a few shots with of my arm with the post removed: Here I have removed the outer post, revealing the inner post (made of titan?) notice the groove whict secures the outer post. The post is secured by two hex screws. The first one sits all the way into the small hole in the arm post and connects to the groove on the inner post.. The second one sits above and cover the first screw in the same hole. Seems to be a pretty easy task to make a 5/8" adapter, if I should want one. Carl Perkins
Did anybody hear what price Tiffen is asking for the G70 arm? carl perkins
Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted April 30, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 30, 2006 I heard anything between $12'000.- and $17'000.-... but nothing in stone as of yet. Would be a shame to go way over as they did with the G-50. You could say that the other manufacturers were lucky that Tiffen didn't stick with there original price of $7500.- It would have erased a lot of businesses and flooded the used market with arms... But the Steadicam name would have rained once again over most retro rigs out there... The 3A arm design is still not dead yet. We'll see, Erwin

Premium Members Lars Erik Posted May 8, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 8, 2006 Hello everyone, does anyone know where to get a long post for the G-50 arm to be used on the Steadicam Archer? Need to get high mode option on my rig. The trick is that the post on the arm is only 13mm. I know this is tiny compared to a Master. Can I get an adaptor if this post isn't available? Thanks for any tips Fly safe and beautiful... LE
Premium Members Lars Erik Posted May 8, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 8, 2006 Sorry. This topic should probably be in Brackets/Widgets. Can any of you moderators move it? Thanks LE
Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted May 8, 2006 Moderators Report Share Posted May 8, 2006 Lars, I dunno, I think it fits well in arms (topic wise). I think if I was looking for a part for a G-50, I'd look under arms???? If you really want to though, we'll move it. Another reason it should be under arms is that I'm going to refer you to the arm guru himself, Robert Luna, for your arm posts. When I had a Master arm, Rob made a whole set of killer arm posts adapting the arm to an XCS gimbal. Robert Luna, 323-938-5659 (he's not too big on email, so call). Good luck. Premium Members Lars Erik Posted May 9, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 9, 2006 Alec and Eric, thanks for setting where the topic should be straight. I'll give Robert a call. Whereabouts is he located? Thinking of the time difference. Is he on the west or east coast? Again, thanks guys. LE
