Ayrton Winitana Posted January 10, 2013 Report Share Posted January 10, 2013 I'm looking to purchase an additional post for current sled As far as I know, its a PRO2 Sled Reason I'm not 100% sure of its generation is because we've be told many different things about it. If someone could specify what generation it is that would be much appreciated Also if anybody knows about where I should be looking, feel free to point me in the right direction. Don't send that poor guy to Jack with questions about a Pro I post/battery hanger. Sheesh. The last time I stopped by Pro and asked Iack about my poor, old Pro I sled I got yelled at. Lol. Just watch the Turorial video on the Pro website concerning center posts and it is pretty obvious Jack's thoughts of the gen I center post. Now, I'm slightly kidding about being yelled at, but Jack will be very adamant in telling you that Pro does not support the gen I, they do not have parts for it, it cannot be integrate into a gen 2 system, and if something goes wrong... well, you at pretty much SOL. At least, that's what he told me. I am currently in the process of upgrading my gen I sled to all gen 2 parts. But, it is a process. You need the gen 2/3 electronics (j boxes and center cable), the gen 2/3/4 battery hanger, and the gen 2 post (either telescoping or non-telescoping) as a minimum. Then of course, you need AB batteries (but you need those anyway to run most big cameras and accessories - I have AB mounts hard wired into my gen I battery hanger to bypass the chocolate bars). Pretty much the only things you can carry over are the gimbal and the DBII (assuming you have a DBII). I assume your monitor can also carry over. Another option might be to get a battery hanger from Hugo at steadirig. I am not sure about whether Hugo makes one of his hangers that connects to a gen 2 center post, but it would be worth some research. And then, would you also need new electronics? I guess it depends on your main goal. Like I said, I am knee deep in modding and upgrading my sled to make it competitive in today's market (until I can afford to fully switch over to all gen 2/3 parts), so let me know if you want to chat more about specifics of what parts and why and what can be done for how much/little money. best of luck, Chris Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Christopher Campbell Posted March 19, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 19, 2013 If you are just looking for a backup parts, I do have the following parts laying around... -an extra gen I post (the one that telescopes, but still needs a tool - you can probably just add a kip lock and make it toolless) -a gen I super post and long cable - A gen I upper j box with cable (the kind where the cable is hard-wired to the upper j and has the 8 pin lemo on the bottom) I have no use for these items anymore. There ate a few generations of posts after this one. I still have this version on my backup sled. The newer style was retro-fitted on many pro1's and a few pro lites. I imagine it is no longer supported because of vibration issues (which the newer versions are much less prone to have) and the need for a low profile top quick release.
