Premium Members Jerry Holway Posted January 22, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 22, 2013 I made two units a long time ago to keep the sled and monitor hot in extreme cold weather. One was for 12 volts (Master Series), the second for 24 volts (first Ultra) - and the batteries were NiCads.... I did not need to hot swap, so I replaced the battery with a powered adapter. The power supplies came from Newark Electronics, and I put it in an enclosure and added switches and connectors and LED's to make it nice. With the newer batteries, it may be better and less expensive just to buy more batteries. You may be able to "hot swap" with one battery by plugging your power adapter into one of the power outputs on the sled. If you don't know electronics, find someone who does and can make sure your sled/batteries will be okay with this. Also be sure the voltage output of the supply is sufficient for the camera, as often a regulated 12 volt supply won't be enough.
