Premium Members Lawrence Karman Posted February 17, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 17, 2013 Anyone have experience with these new cameras? Power connector, T/O connector? Weight? Got an upcoming job that will use this and looking to be prepared.
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted February 17, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 17, 2013 The modular battery plate has a 4 pin XLR, and the body is just bigger than an epic. I believe the time code is a BNC. Band Pro might demo one for you, or they can hook you up with an f55 class at Sony studios.
Premium Members Michael Hauer Posted February 18, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 18, 2013 I was just at Abel looking at it the other day. Its a great little camera with the emphasis on little. The body weighs just over 4 pounds, and all it's accessories are super light too including Sonys new Vmounts, which are apparently excellent. I'd definitely bring your weight plate.
Premium Members Lawrence Karman Posted February 19, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 19, 2013 Thanks guys. Sounds similar to the Epic. This will probably be with Panavision Primo's so it will have a bit more weight along with Boxx, Preston, Cinetape etc. we'll find a way to butch it up. Premium Members Orlando Duguay Posted March 14, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 14, 2013 Can anyone provide a firsthand account of flying the F55? One of my friends over at Panavision mentioned to me that some people are having issues with the form factor of the camera in terms of mounting points, brackets, rods, etc. (maybe they're just having an issue with the panavision rod system?). I also heard of issues with sony's new external recorder. Can anyone corroborate any of this? A good friend of mine is on the verge of buying one, so I'd love to hear some impressions from a fellow steadicam op. Thanks!
