Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted February 26, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 26, 2013 I actually went straight to IMDB while I was watching that episode...bummed to find 44 names with no positions listed. Saw some bts on youtube. Looks like d-21, pro, tb6, adidas shoes and levi jeans (button fly...classy guy)

Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted February 26, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 26, 2013 Dunno what IMDB you're looking at Ron. I see 4 names for Steadicam: Richard Stoddard (8 eps 2011) Xandy Sahla (6 eps 2010) Adam Gillham (6 eps 2011-2012) Jeremy Hiles (2 eps 2010) Which would make either Xandy or Jeremy the op on the first ep I assume. Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted February 26, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 26, 2013 Weird...when I look up on the show on IMDB it doesn't list the positions on my computer or phone (even the link that Peter posted). Strange eh? Well...Xandy and/or Jeremy did a fantastic job!
Premium Members JeremyHiles Posted April 17, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 17, 2013 Hi All, I confess I was the operator/steadicam operator on series 1 eps 1&2 of Downton Abbey, most of these two eps were my steadicam shots, including the shot through the house with all the activity of the servants etc, after ep 2 I was fired from the show for trying to make it look "Too cinematic"! such is the way of current UK TV....... Hey Ho, Xandy then took over and some of the stuff in those eps is his, as they were shot way out of sequence. Thanks for noticing, and interestingly the ep that won the Emmy for cinematography and other awards was No 1! Some Justice then. David Katznelson, DOP did a fantastic job on that first series, but sadly he suffered from the same lack of need for that cinematic look. Hope that clears up the questions. Premium Members William Demeritt Posted April 17, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 17, 2013 Downton. Downton Abbey. Downtown Abbey is a girl you don't take home to mother. British rage is still so proper. I bet you typed that with your pinky up, didn't you?
Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted April 18, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 18, 2013 Well Jeremy! Thanks for chiming in. I have only seen the 1st episode and your work is wonderful. Too bad to hear about the crap that went down after the second episode. Typical bs. Were they trying to save some money or did they really think you were too "cinematic"...or good!?
Premium Members Thomas English Posted April 18, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 18, 2013 What does that even mean these days? Too Cinematic?
Premium Members William Demeritt Posted April 19, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 19, 2013 What does that even mean these days? Too Cinematic? "We need to move faster. Shoot the rehearsal and don't complain."
