The lack of pendulum movement and the graceful lockoff was wild, regardless of rig weight.

I missed the post on Job's 360 shot that Charles referenced. Someone have a link?

I think that is the shot in question?

Btw dominique, great guy. Used his p+s3d rig once and spoke with him on the phone. Got many tips from him. Really great guy.

Yup, that's the one Job. The best part being that as you described at the time, the ending with the guy putting his hand up and your zoom-out/push-in/down on one knee final frame was all unplanned. I would think that having the ability to be a bit more spontaneous than typical narrative-type shooting, plus the adrenaline rush of live shooting is a major draw for this kind of work. Dom's running shot is just so ballsy (flying through that door at that speed...not catching his shoulder which is so easy to do with a wide lens in Don Juan...and did anyone notice there's a massive cable crossover just after the entrance to the studio?). I think it's just amazing that shots like this and the Segway jump-off are considered acceptable risk for a big live broadcast these days.

OUTSIDE of the operating, and to throw poor Scott a bone--the Boxx clearly worked out well in this situation. Scott, I'm assuming the big broadcast antennae array? Do you know where it was located, at a halfway point or in the studio?

I did this for SYTYCD live. ( this video is from rehearsel) Try'd to beat the dancers. ( god i love this job )

And yes, going live is a hugh rush, that gives you more power. The only down size is taht liveshows are getting longer and longer these days. When i do The Voice of Holland, we have 14 songs, rehearsel them 4 times a song ( 56 times ) and going live the same day in the evening for 3 hours ( with commercial breaks ) its getting very hard.
