Phil Rhodes
Hi, I need to buy one or possibly two Pelican 1500 cases. Peli Products in the UK quoted me £75.71 apiece, which is nuts, since from casesbypelican.com they can be bought for $74.33, no foam. Apparently this is to do with the UK operation having to buy cases in euros from their Barcelona office, but frankly I couldn't care less about their labyrinthine internal corporate meanderings - is there anywhere in the UK who will give me a sensible price on a 1500 peli case, or do I just bite the bullet and import them direct? Thanks, Phil
PaulEdwards
Phil, Canford Audio charge £110.80 (plus VAT) for the 1500 with foam! Paul Edwards
Phil Rhodes
Hi, Yah well, that's Canford. But $75 is about £40; I'm going to call Pelican in California when they wake up and find out what gives. Phil
Premium Members joe mcnally Posted February 3, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 3, 2004 Hello Phil you could try these people too http://www.all-pelican-cases-4-less.com/de...lican_1500.html About $71-00. Remember the price you have in UK includes delivery. Might be worth paying a little extra for the lack of hassle. Remember customs fee, courier fee, import duty and VAT, phonecalls. Might still be worth importing just for the hell of it though. Good luck and let us know what you decide Joe
Phil Rhodes
Hi, It wasn't so much that I'm keen to import them on the basis it's going to save me a tenner, it's just that I'm slightly aghast that they should be so enormously more expensive here anyway. Feh. Phil
Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted February 3, 2004 Moderators Report Share Posted February 3, 2004 Phil, Make sure you are comparing apples to apples (or whatever it is you lads compare). No foam should be a bit cheaper. In the States, one is better off always buying with the foam - even if you don't need it yet - because buying the foam by itself is half as much as the case. Mitch Gross
Phil, aren't you flying in for NAB again this year? If you can wait it out I suggest you just pick up a couple of cases at the show. There's always a dealer with a stack or two and usually at a discount. Just use it for luggage to get back home. No NAB for me this year--I'll be doing 2am feedings.
Phil Rhodes
Hi, Unfortunately, I'm putting something together for a job just before NAB, so I'll need to get them ahead of time. Foam tip is useful, but I'm going to get the type with the panel frame for mounting equipment permanently. Phil
Mitch Gross
You may want to check on the prices of the Storm Cases from Hardigg. Perhaps they are less expensive than Pellican there. Check cases4less.com for a nice comparison chart with corresponding model numbers. When pressed to find a dealer in my area, I simply phoned Hardigg and they gave me a list of contacts with phone numbers.

Rich Steel
Phil, You could always hop onto a sleazy jet and head of to mainland europe and buy them. That way you get round paying any import duties, VAT or shipping.
