Premium Members chris bangma Posted March 28, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 28, 2013 In answer to the questions about the connector. You will need a straight connector for the monitor. The lemo cannot be reoriented in the housing, since it is keyed. We chose to use a straight connector on the new monitor for a few reasons. Fist off, the way the new monitor is designed, all the connectors point back at the sled. This keeps all the cables compact and tidy, and prevents any cables from hanging down off of the monitor, and keeps the overall profile of the monitor to a minimum. In doing this, it increases your clearance while operating, and reduces the chances of a cable snagging on someting, or brushing up against something which could influence your operating. Also all the connectors are designed to be protected by the lip on the monitor. This is designed to prevent any damage to the connectors or cables in the event of a fall or accident. If you look back at the old crt monitors, their design was similar, to keep the cables out of the way, reduce the profile of the monitor, and reduce the stress on the cables. We can convert your existing cables for $85, and will be offering our own cables as well.

Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted March 28, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 28, 2013 Will a straight connector interfere with the ab batt mounted on the back? Bummer as we all have many many sets of right angle cables. edit -- I guess if there is a batt on the back one would use a bnc for hd anyways...just wondering about interference with possible aks/batts/ransmitters etc. Nice to have all options available. What are the final specs/weight/measurments?
Premium Members chris bangma Posted March 28, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 28, 2013 The cables will not interfere with an AB mount on the back. The back it flat and free from any cables for anything you want to mount on it. Weight: 2.2lb (1kg) Housing size: 7.4" x 5.6" x 1.8" (188mm x 142mm x 46mm)

Premium Members chris bangma Posted March 28, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 28, 2013 We will flip the 8 pin lemo, so it is compatible with right angle connectors.
Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted March 28, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 28, 2013 Too late for me, I guess...:-( But a good choice, since it does not change the ability to use a straight connector if preferred... Thanks for responding so quickly.
Premium Members chris bangma Posted March 29, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 29, 2013 The connector will rotate 90 degrees, so you can use either straight or right angle. We can mod the monitors that are already out there.

Premium Members Simon Jayes Posted April 2, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 2, 2013 Guys, I've finally had the chance to fly the Gen 2, and although I haven't really had the chance to test properly or get through all of its features, I HAD to gush about the absolutely incredible viewing angle - AMAZING!! There is NO orientation of my rig where I can't easily view the screen - Bravo Chris and Mike!!!
