Shooting Aaton Penelope upside down- scratch issues?

Anyone have any experience of wether running an Aaton Penelope upside down scratches the film?

I only ask as my experience with 435's is you can shoot upside down scratch free, but Arricam LT's won't !

I will be asking the AC to test this when he steady tests the lenses but it would be great to hear beforehand.

Cheers!

"but Arricam LT's won't" . I have gone upside down on the LT many times. The 435 tends to jam a little more upside down. I went upside down on the previous AAton 35 with no issues.

Generally I am not sure scratch issues are what to worry about but film jamming seemed to always be the concern but I'd love to hear others thoughts.

Thanks

The LT with Steadimags definitely scratched, but didn't jam, upside down, the only time I was requested to do so by the Director, "to save time" ....Every shot that day in poormans low mode was scratched. I have always used the lowmode top since.

I have never had any jamming or scratching issues with a 435 just because it was upside down however. Though will always use the 100% video/ steadicam low mode top anyway if available.

I can find no dedicated steadicam top for the Penelope so would have plate up onto the top handle which stinks of vibration issues just like the SR2/3 and the Alexa before the steadicam tops were made!

I have a low mode cage anyway but was still wondering which camp Penelope sits in?

Will post results of running the camera upside down later this week to put into the info bank.
