Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted March 11, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 11, 2013 Benjamin, The Bolt and Arrow Plus both use the same chipsets, so they are very similar in terms of range and signal quality. The Arrow uses HDMI and USB power. The bolt has HD-SDI, a built-in battery & regulator; although if you search the forum, you will see that people are having problems with powering it. I've opted for the Paralinx, as it takes on a modular approach. If you keep your ear to the ground, there will be some unique announcements at NAB and Cinegear about modular additions to the Arrow that will allow anyone to add new features to their existing units. Teradek does not have this same approach as far as I know. Also, anyone who had bought the original Arrow had the option to upgrade to the new model for free, only having to pre-order a second receiver. Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted March 12, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 12, 2013 Went with the Arrow as well as my main market is Red Epic which has a unused HDMI plug, avoiding me to chain too many components on the single SDI. Plus on the other hand I can either convert it to SDI to a large client minitor or plug it to a small handheld monitor for a battery powered director's monitor to run next to me. Also one thing: I did the mistake of renaming my Arrow with a name of over 9 characters which created a stack overflow and crashed the receiver. I had to send it to Paralinx for exchange. The guys at Paralinx were super responsive and a new unit is in the mail right now (<rant>faster than Tiffen for swapping some stupid clamps </rant>). Just don't rename them with more than 9 letters. Dan is great in the costumer service dpt. The Bolt works great as well. Their performance is virtually identical, so you can't go wrong... Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted March 13, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 13, 2013 I am using a Blackmagic HyperDech to record what I shoot, as it has a HDMI out that converts the SDI signal, the Arrow made more sense to me. On the receiving end, you can use a SDI converter (or I am looking in using a passive HDMI to DVI to plug it to the Panasonic 17" monitor, haven't tested it yet) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
