Fabio Lanzone
I was using a Teradek Bolt on a shoot last week and it worked great, for the most part. In the afternoon hours it appears that the transmitter was overheating and would stop transmitting. When we let it cool for a bit, it operated fine, but then would heat up and stop working again. Has anyone else had this occur? Same exact problem here. After 20 minutes of use starts overheating. All lights turn off for a second and it boots again. And it does it every few seconds until I turn it off and let it cool down. Sending it back tomorrow to my reseller here in Italy :(
Troy Harrington
To my knowledge, all transmitters (boxx, idx, teradek, paralynx) are based on the same aminon chipsets and transmitting on the same 5-6 ghz bandwidth, so pick your poison. Plus the transmitting power is limited to 50-80 mW. Compare that to your 1 to 2 watt IPhone. This is a very good point. Choosing between these is a bit like apples to apples. Maybe one's a Fuji apple so you like it over another. VidOvation has a similar transmitter that falls into this category as well. The other option is to go with higher end transmitters than will do COFDM (Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) for further distance and reliability. Have a good one! Definitely words to live by. New stuff gets announced, and lots of new stuff hits the market within a month or three.
