Premium Members Michael Wilson Posted March 21, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 21, 2013 Mk-v owners how do you power the alexa from your sled? I've heard some are doing 12 and 24 volts across different manufacturers. I want to power a BFD and bolt from the sled as well. Waiting on a response from mk-v. Is a 12 volt alexa cable different from a 24 volt cable?
Jason Tan
For Alexa I always need to run at 24V, at 12V it tries to draw too much amperage for the sled to handle. This is using the MK-V V2 boxes. The cable is different for 12V and 24V in that you have to use pin 3 for +24V, pin 2 is for +12V, pin 1 is always GND. All your 12/24V ports will still put out +12V if your accessory cables are wired positive to Pin 2. Premium Members Martin Stacey Posted March 22, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 22, 2013 Hi Michael You are definitely better off with 24v. The Alexa is very thirsty in 12v. I can run it for over 4 hours in 24v in the AR with 2 GMP190ah batteries. Less than an hour in 12v.
