sears tool chest as local case

Hi all;

 

I've been hot to use this as a local case for a long time. My current truck won't let me sit this upright but my next vehicle will. I haven't figured out how to lay it on its back and not have everything get turned over etc.

 

This is a good, local case, certainly not for air flight.

 

What I find interesting is that first its on wheels, second it take uncasing things away from every job.

 

Top drawer, tools; Second, cables; 3rd, follow focus; 4th batteries and chargers and top is a work space.

 

Its a handy place to charge batteries on top and lastly its cheap.

 

I also find that its nice to put the stuff back in before lunch, lock it and walk away one other thing that my other cases don't have.

 

(I've seen crane guys use these and they work really well.)

Does the new vehicle have a lift gate? That tool box is 98lbs. empty (if I'm reading the craftsman website right ). I think that would be to heavy to load in and out of a minivan or SUV. I use to have a rig in 2 pelican 1660's. the hardest part about going to work back then was loading the cases in and out of a car.

 

I think not owning a car has keep my kit streamlined and in a few small cases. The storm 2950 being the largest.

Probably a transit connect but either way just s simple $100 ramp is the best way

 

I'm not lifting it either !!

 

Its not terrible as a two person lift and I don't carry a ton of batteries; just a few.

That's why I have a drawer case on my cart. The sears tool chest is great for the crane guys but I can't see having that and a stand and whatever else you need to drag around on set.

 

Also here's a Top Tip, ditch the key locks, you will either loose the key's or break them off in the lock, go with Combo Locks, that's what I have on all my drawers

I'm not that hard on locks, havent had one break off ever; thanks for the tip.

 

I sell advertising to AC and Grip Co on one side and my name and number on second and third, big side have solar panels, no one objects to bringing the case along!

 

Its fun.

If you do some measuring, you might find one of those tool chests that will sandwich between the shelves of a yeager or even a rubbermaid. I always liked them though (like me) most of the drawers can be a bit shallow

I wanted this Pelican case to work, but like you said the drawers are to shallow.

I've had the Pelican 0450 on my cart for the last 4 months, and I've liked using it so far. I have 1 "deep" drawer and 1 "double" drawer, need to get another "double" drawer but this works in the mean time. My only gripe is that the whole thing isn't really DEEP enough (vertically or length wise) to arrange everything more intuitively. Otherwise, I like it a lot. Pics below.

I have one of those Sears red cases in my workshop and yes... it is terrible as a 2 man lift and very terrible as a one man lift. Remember it easily has extra 15kg minimum of stuff in there
