Cheapo post?

I hope everyone is well, haven't been on the forum for a while.

I've been getting more and more calls for steadicam jobs with Mini DV cameras (Grrr!).

I don't want to try to rig my MK-V Nexus with a weight cage for all of these jobs, so I've decided to try to build a little sled with my spare 3A gimbal. Does anyone know what/where to get as a 1.5" post? I tried conduit and plumbing pipe at Home Depot, but they didn't have the correct diameter. TIA, Max

I have made a sled also. I used seamless aluminum tubing from a local supplier.

www.onlinemetals.com could also get you set up. Get tubing just oversize and have your machinist turn it to exactly the correct diameter. They can also build some end plugs with the correct bolt patterns to put on your donkey box and and battery plate off your MkV. or maybe Howard can make you up somthing, to put a bottom box on it.

with like 1 proformer.

The big problem is the arm, most arms that lift real cameras won't adjust low enough.

The new Tiffen G arms may solve this.

Our rigs are pretty full size. When we have to fly little cameras we do put them in a box. I use the german lowmode box which is very rigid, and a single barbell weight on top. So its quick to go to low mode. This works very well like flying a 16mm camera

and has a lot to recommend it.

Hi Max

How are you?

We now do the 'MK-V Lite' for this very reason - I will email you some info and pictures.

And we have a shelf full of 1.5" posts - what do you need?

Hope to speak to you soon

All the best

Howard

Hi Matt

Good to hear from you.

Yes you are very welcome.

I am in the US until mid June, but Chris is around and doing AR demo's (in the UK).

I have the 1st Lite with me in the USA, but we are making another 10 so there should be one for you to see pretty soon.

M62

I don't know what it is about that motorway......

So if you can wait until I get back, then great - if not please contact Chris and say hi and have a fly of the AR.

Please email me at howard@mk-v-usa.com and I will send you some photos.

Hope to see you soon.

Enjoy

Howard
