Edmond Fetue
Hi there, Nedd some help here: I will fly a Sony F55 this week using my Artemis EFP, I have two concerns: 1. The weight of the camera (maybe is just too lightweighted for the Artemis arm) 2. The video output from the camera (i'm using a Transvideo CineMonitor II. Both sled and monitor work on SD Video.) I was thinking of using this AJA to work around this: http://www.aja.com/en/products/mini-converters/hd10cea/#overview Any suggestions?? Thanks! Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted April 15, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 15, 2013 For the lack of weight, you can add a battery to the camera. Otherwise get a weight cage from Janice Arthur. Gives you many mounting points for AKS and great weight position for nice pans. A lot of people here are only swearing by Decimator http://decimator.com/Products/Decimator2/decimator2.html Aja is good too.
Premium Members Mike Marriage Posted April 15, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 15, 2013 According to Sony, SD composite is coming to the F55/5 via the "Test" out BNC but it is NOT yet implemented in firmeware. So for now, follow Victor's advice. The camera can start to get heavier once the RAW recorder, battery and various base/cheese plates are added but yes, you may neeed a wieght plate depending on lenses and accessories.
Premium Members Joe Lawry Posted April 16, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 16, 2013 Yes you need a down converter to get composite. Also depending on your lens package you may not need a weight plate. The camera is light, but throw some ultra's on there, R5 recorder, Vlock battery, FIZ, Mattebox.. it'll get heavy quick.
Edmond Fetue
The weight issue is solved. It's quite heavy with all accessories. I just couldn't get my AJA to work. http://www.aja.com/en/products/mini-converters/d10cea/#overview Anyone knows where to buy the DECIMATOR 2 in NYC?? I have a friend flying from there Tuesday. Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted April 19, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 19, 2013 The AJA should work, check the settings on the connector do a test with another HDSdi source to make sure it's not broken check the settings of the SDI output on the camera. Otherwise AbelCine might have some Decimators. Not sure.
Edmond Fetue
This AJA model outputs to 3 composite bnc connectors. I cannot plug it into my rig because it uses one bnc composite only as input
