Premium Members Richard W. Davis Posted April 24, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 24, 2013 Russ, Glad to hear you are mending... hating that this happened to you in the first place. I hope you are up and well enough for the fall tv season and all the legal things sort out in your favor. Best, Rich Davis
Premium Members William Demeritt Posted April 24, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 24, 2013 And I read this the morning I've started my safety classes through CSATF. Very sobering, very real danger and very dangerous accidents. Everyone stay safe and aware, and watch out for each other!
Premium Members JensSchroeder Posted April 25, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 25, 2013 Dear Russ, I don't know you in person but I easily can imagine your situation. And since I really much appreciate this steadicam community, I wanted to post my oppinion. I really hope that you will recover pretty fast. But telling from the connotation of your post I have no doubt that you will because you still haven't lost your humor. So please keep it that way. One other thing is your financial situation, I don't know about your insurance situation. Actually I would be in big trouble paying my monthly payables. It probably doesn't help very much and telling you directly isn't very polite so I would like to ask Janice who started this topic what we could do. Here is my humble suggestion, I would like to transfer let's say maybe around 500,- to an Russ' accident account and if some more people joined that could cover some payables for a few months. Or everyone could look through their back-up stuff which we tend to have too much and we have a steadicam forum garage sale. The proceeds of this sale we could transfer to that account. What do you think? Ok Russ, hang loose and keep recovering. Cheers, jens

Premium Members Brant S. Fagan SOC Posted April 25, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 25, 2013 Russ--My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you all move through the recovery process! Having just dodged a close one on my recent tv pilot, I can fully appreciate just how daunting the road to recovery can be. A few years back I had my appendix blow out while on a show in New York so I calmly walked the 14 blocks to the hospital and had it out the next morning. While the actual medical care was fantastic, the follow-up paperwork and heartless attitude from insurers can be disillusioning. Keep on with your recovery and you'll be a much stronger person when you complete the process. Don't give up hope, there is light at the end of the tunnel, which incidentally leads to Crew Parking and the road home to family and friends! Premium Members JobScholtze Posted April 25, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 25, 2013 Wow russ, terrible accident you had. I hope you get well soon. People find me "hard" to deal with. Roberts example is just another reason of why we play hard ball the way we do.
Moderators Janice Arthur Posted April 25, 2013 Author Moderators Report Share Posted April 25, 2013 Jens; This is a wonderful sentiment but right now those McElhattons are pretty tough and we can offer good wishes and support. If that changes and we can help I'm sure we will let others know. Maybe u and all the rest of us can use this incident to beef up our own rainy day funds and insurances etc. I also don't want to start a scamming situation where scumbags might try to solicit funds from our members. Keep a good thought and maybe email Russ on a PM and start to get to know each other. I'm certain we can all use new friends. (The garage sale individuals would have to decide on their own etc. ) When Russ gets back up and circulating we can all get together and raise a glass with him. Janice Peace to all!!
