Flyer LE gimbal problems....service or replace?

Hi guys,

My gimbal seems to prefer a specific orientation, which really becomes apparent in Low Mode or when I am flying on say a 45 degree tilt (this does not seem to be an issue for me when the post is vertical). So if I am balancing my rig with a 45 degree tilt the camera will slowly but surely drift to point a certain direction. This phenomenon forces me to adjust left/right balance on the stage to compensate for this drifting when I am rotated to a specific off-axis point.

I think my gimbal may have been stressed with too heavy of a load. I am relatively new operator and I would really appreciate the advice from you guys on what to do or if you have had a similar issue? Should I have the gimbal re-serviced at Steadicam or tested somewhere else professionally? Is it something I can fix myself?

Thanks,

Pascal

Hi Pascal,

If you're local in L.A., I would suggest you call Derek Hester at the new facility and ask him how best to proceed. They can check the centering on your gimbal.

Feel free to email me with any questions on that sled.

Best,

Peter Abraham, S.O.C.
