Premium Members Brad Grimmett Posted May 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 9, 2013 Anyone know what the import tax into the US is? I'm considering buying some used gear from someone in the UK and would like to know what to expect to pay. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Brad
Premium Members joe mcnally Posted May 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 9, 2013 Hi Brad, not an expert but Id say it depends what type of equipment. For instance mechanical goods would genereally be much less than electrical or elsectronic equipment There are different rates of taxation for all goods they ll be listed somewhere All best Joe
Premium Members Brad Grimmett Posted May 9, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted May 9, 2013 I found this website which seems legit: http://www.dutycalculator.com/ It says steadicam has an import duty rate of 2.5%. Does this sound accurate to anyone who's done this before? Brad
Premium Members Osvaldo Silvera SOC Posted May 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 9, 2013 If it's items made in the US, there should be no duty to bring stuff "home".
