For those Gen I Flyer owners worldwide, finally a way to have the control and feel of a larger Steadicam system when panning, tilting and operating. The Zalex™ Handle is a user-installed large diameter handle with custom-designed traction on the surface.

The new diameter of your Flyer handle will be 1.5 inches and your handle will be 6 inches long.

The price of the Zalex Handle is $ 200 USD + shipping costs outside of the USA. Priority Shipping included within the lower 48. Express shipping extra.

This invention is based on a one-off modified handle I had crafted when I bought my Model I Universal Steadicam in 1987. Worked beautifully, felt good in the hand.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Best to all,

Peter Abraham

I now have Peters Zalex Handle for the flyer on my rig and I am very happy to have it.

I operated the flyer for 7 years and have grown comfortable with the flyer handle.

However the original flyer handle often was to short for my pinky on big tilts.

I often found myself balancing the rig on my pinky past the grip on the bare 3/4" post.

The Zalex eliminates this problem by extending the handle grip further down the post by a few inches. That alone has made this upgrade worth it.

The thicker 1.5" handle is a great upgrade for my large hands. Now all my rigs are 1.5" grips.

It has been nice to have new grip too. My old handle was very worn down.

The upgrade is reversible but I don't see myself taking this off. Looking forward to trying it out on my next flyer gig.

I recommend this to any serious flyer operators.

A thing or two or three. Great response so far to the Zalex Handle.

I'm working on providing the Install Manual in a good hand ful of languages. So far, my Steadicam colleagues are stepping up to provide manuals in Mandarin, Arabic, German, French, Hebrew and Spanish. I'm working on Russian and a few others. Most of the info will be gleaned from the photos. The text is in some cases rather crucial, hence my desire to provide multilingual manuals.

Best to all,

Peter

I'm tempted to replace my PVC with this. Don't use the Flyer as much anymore though, so not in a rush.

Great job Peter, it's almost like you know a thing or two about the Flyer.

Ahhhhhh, but Brian. On the evening before that last-minute Flyer gig that comes sailing over the transom, you'll be sitting on your Pelican case, elbows on knees, chin resting dolefully in your palms, rueing the choice to wait. Rueing I tell yas !!!!! Your head will be filled with  and you'll wish you'd gotten a little bit of  from me in time to make the following days' work go like  !!!

:D
