Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted October 4, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 4, 2005 ok, enough of the bullshit -- back to the subject of digital onboard recorders, who has the one Eric is talking about? How is it? Somebody's got to have it by now (not you Steve B!). Ron B
Premium Members Charles Papert Posted October 4, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 4, 2005 Visit the forum at chasecam.com; the product appears to still be vaporware and a lot of disgruntled folks waiting in line for a scrap of news about true availability, sadly. Premium Members Charles Papert Posted November 19, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 19, 2005 Pictures of a physical unit up, now a promised Q4 shipping date (we're pretty far into Q4 already!): http://www.chasecam.com/recorders/pdr.htm
costasflex
Eric hello.great product it sounds like. Will you have a representitive in Europe though. These electronics do brake down and send them to usa for repair is a big prob when you live elsewhere. What warranty it carries? Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted December 19, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 19, 2005 hi all, I was searching around the internet for some new guages for my truck and came across this dvr, check it out! The Chasecam one seems cooler, but this one seems to actually exsist (I've called Chasecam a few times and can never seem to get a human). http://www.stackltd.com/dvrharsh.html pardon the repeat if this unit has already been discussed. Premium Members chris fawcett Posted December 19, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 19, 2005 Dear Shining Ones, I have been to the brink of buying one of these gizmos several times over the last year, but taking all your comments on board, I shyed away at the last minute. I decided instead to buy one of the mini dvs many of you seem to favour, the Sony PC5, only to find it discontinued. Any suggestions? Wishing you all a peaceful season, Chris
Matt Mouraud
Hi Chris !! How are you ? Well I've chosen to follow Kareem LaVaullée and I will order an Archos AVR500. They're tiny and easy to put on the sled. You can easily find a used PC5 for next to nothing. I have a PC2 that I bought for about €200. They're very rugged, it's been to Afghanistan with me and swallowed as much dust as I did without a single dropout. Whishing you a merry x-mas !! Premium Members chris fawcett Posted December 20, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 20, 2005 Hi Matt, I'm fine, thanks.and still awaiting your impending visit! If I could find a pc5 for a couple of hundred, I'd snap it up. Let me know how you get on with the Achos. I've heard it's a bit fiddly, not that a mini dv would be any less so. Yours, in confusion, Chris
Larry McConkey
I have found several over the last couple of years on Ebay - I listed what I wanted, and waited for an email saying it had been offered by someone. I got a response within a week or two each time. The world could be running out, but I bet there are still quite a few available this way. I needed the PC-5 because of the mods I have made or had made by Seitz specific to this model. I even bought one PAL version for use with cameras with PAL taps. If you aren't in need of that specific model it may open up your search - just be sure it has video in and out. Still waiting for the right digital model. I have looked at an INnova A2D recently which is now offered with a basic remote which is one of my personal requirements (although not all features can be accessed without referring to the front panel) but it is a bit large and heavy to be the perfect onboard. I will do a review of it sometime soon. Larry
Premium Members chris fawcett Posted February 14, 2006 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 14, 2006 Good plan Larry, I'll do it now, and end this interminable indecision. Thanks for the input, Chris
