Samuel Navas
Hi chaps, I'm in the first couple of months of operating an Ultra 1, and today I noticed a vibration in the image. Everything was locked tight and firm when static, so what could be causing this when I'm on the move? My first thoughts were the tilt stage, the Ultra dovetail plate which is quite thin, or the standard Alexa Steadicam plate (little black thing) which does not support the back-end of the camera. All of these seem improbable now, but the vibration was definitely there, and quite embarrassing. What am I missing? Would be grateful to hear from someone more experienced than me about the usual causes of this problem. Thanks as always, Sam
Premium Members Brant S. Fagan SOC Posted August 8, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 8, 2013 Start by securing the camera and supporting both ends. This is the likely culprit. Beyond that, there could be some issues you may need to address on your sled.
Evrim KAYA
did you have any accessories on your sled? the source of the vibration might not be in the stage/camera portion of the rig. even a poorly attached decimator or video sender can translate to vibration in the image. (i.e. a long magic arm extending from the rig, carrying a relatively small load)
Premium Members Alfeo Dixon SOC Posted August 9, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 9, 2013 check the Post-to-Top Stage set screws. This could be the culprit. I also had a lens that wasn't mounted well vibrating on me once.

Premium Members Jerry Holway Posted December 22, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 22, 2013 Since you seem to have tightened down everything else, check the tightness of the rails - for and aft and side to side. If they are too loose, you get vibration. try 1/8th turn or less on each screw; go slowly and test if you can still run the stage back and forth and side to side. It's a bit of a pain to get to all the screws, but I remember it can be done without undoing anything on the stage.
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted December 22, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 22, 2013 That side to side slider was the culprit on my Zephyr. It's quite easy to adjust on the zephyr (easier than the gimbal that is) just 3 little Allen screws to turn.
Premium Members Lars Erik Posted December 22, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 22, 2013 Do a drop test. Is there any unusual sound coming from the rig? If not, can you feel any vibration from the rig?

Stan Marcinkowski
Hi everyone I got similar problem. During running or even fast walking there are some vibrations on image. All is strange because it's second time I've. There is a place when using some force is kind of play - see photo https://goo.gl/photos/9HqYzNnc6FizSye2A All 5/64 scerws seem to be good tightened https://goo.gl/photos/yD8ur2dNeVw5SnLe6 Do you think only Wegde Clamp can solve the problem? CP haven't produced it any more. What to do? Best regards Stan Marcinkowski
Evrim KAYA
I think Adam Mendry has some wedge clamp copies made. he might still have some of them.
Chris Allen
Top stage fore/aft side/side bearings? I've had a few issues with my U1's concerning these bearings...especially if you push the side/side to the ends of the adjustment.
